I know nothing about them, but really want to build one to play with. I was looking at the S&W lowers they had on sale. I was thinking of something like a 223 but prefer a 308. I was also looking at a 204 barrel. I love your setup. It looks sweet. What is the scope??? Oakie

The scope is a Center Point multi-reticle red/green dot. Fairly cheap at WalMart, but I read the reviews and just couldn't find enough bad to sway me from at least trying it. It's no Aimpoint, but it doesn't have an Aimpoint price tag either.

I can't worry too much about pissing folks off![:D] I go with works for ME, gotta make it tacticool you know? But, I did keep the standard hand guards out of respect for the "purists"!

Believe me I totally understand. I've got like 10 AR's and only one has regular hand guards and they are triangle shaped.[;)]

good for you , there like a Lego kit for adults and easy to keep upgrading or modifying give us a range report

I am about to finish my first build of a franken-AR. easier than I thought it would be as parts and kits are everywhere

I bought a 50.00 lower from brownells , I picked up at a deal Timmy trigger and a SS barrel on flebay . the rest thru auctions and PSA . just ordered the BCG yesterday it was last part I needed to complete mine .
    will post photos when done

    Wartiger, nicely done...
You mentioned adding BUIS sights. Where will you place them?[?]

I like everything except the single point sling idea.

I've built all my from parts. It is a lot of fun. I got a chance to tour the Tapco facility this week, looks like they have a nice selection of accessories.

New gas block or extended quad rail to give me a same plane line of sight as the top rail on the gun and then co-witness with the red dot. Or the 45 degree off-set sights from XS. I'll probably just replace the gas block though, it'll be easier and cheaper in the long run.

I personally love it. Light weight and functional and when shooting from a bench or prone, it provides the perfect height, for me anyways.
