Savage scope base?

I already have this in ATE.
I am wanting a picatinny scope base for a short action non-accu-trigger 308. I think this would be the flat back; is that correct? I think my Vortex scope has enough travel to allow for a 0 MOA base. Does anyone other than Warne (very expensive) make such a critter?
Thx, AT

maybe evolution gun works? they might be pricey too though.
EGW is most economical picatinny I have seen @ $40. What model Vortex do you have and at what range are you trying to get to?

I have a 4-12 x 40 viper and a 6-24 x 50 crossfire. I am just playing with the 308's distance and accuracy. I am only wanting to be fairly consistant out to 500 yds. The 220 swift does okay on a dead still day, but a rat's fart will put it in the next county.
I have seen your posts and know you are hunting antelope on the plains and hills up north. You should have some good advice.

Not sure if you reload or what factory load you are using. Anyways, you should have enough of elevation adjustment. IIRC, your Viper has 50+ MOA (25 up/25 dn) and Crossfire has 60+ MOA (30 up/30 dn) at 0 MOA base. For instance, if you use 168gr Berger VLD by HSM with a velocity of 2740 FPS and .473 BC zeroed at 100 yards, depending on altitude and other environmental factors, the MOA is ~ 10 at 500 yards.
You can get the ammo at http://store.thehuntingshack.com/trophygold308168VLD.aspx. There's also link to Berger's ballistic calculator.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

Knowledge is power in my opinion and every bit helps. I may be back in touch as this project moves along. I appreciate your time and knowledge.
