Write if you get work: Samuel J. Wurzelbacher, who had his 15 minutes of fame during the late presidential campaign as Joe the Plumber, is making his bid for immortality, or some strange version of it, with a book deal.

He has signed with PearlGate Publishing, of Austin, Texas, to produce a tome called Joe the Plumber: Fighting for the American Dream.

We don't know how much he's getting paid, but we do know there's a ghost-writer to help with the, you know, words part. This classic will be available as early as Dec. 1.

Wurzelbacher told Fox News he could have signed with a bigger publisher, one somebody has actually heard of.

"But they don't need the help," he said.

"They are already rich. So that's spreading the wealth to me."

Passing up easy money: Since when has this been any part of the American Dream?
