Completely lost my Temper today.

Had to work a 4th, 6 day work week, with the Sat. added on.
I've got one of the most physically demanding jobs in the plant.
A Girl, who I've been having issues with, for a while, (smarting off, running Her mouth, etc. trying to get some of her work put on me, "because I'm a Girl." etc.)
Kept (all day) turning my directed fan off.
I work hard. I sweat. I need the fan.
Finally about a half hour before we let out, I freakin' lost it on Her. She'd turn it off, i 'd go over and turn it back on.
Seriously Juvenile.
Totally Pissed me off.
I've been trying to maintain my composure for a long time with this *' bag, but today, I lost it on Her.
Not proud of myself, but its out in the open now. No more passive aggressive, subtleties involved anymore.
I especially liked the "Touch me, just touch me," mantra She assumed when I got close to Her, and was visibly angry.
If it was a Guy, (and we were not at work,) I would have kicked some A**.
I'm not proud of myself, but sometimes you have to take a stand.
Flame on.
(A lot of 2 1/2 year long BS, goes along with this petty incident.) I'd had enough.
The next Foreman that came by, I relayed the incident, with my desire to "deescalate" the incident.
Told him, it is not on Her, to come through my Work area, and turn my fan off, repeatedly.
Aaaarrrgggghhh........
Pass me another beer.

If you had done something 2-1/2 years ago, you would not be feeling bad today. Don
I agree, Don.
I'd also be unemployed.
Good paying jobs are very hard to come by in this area.
I've been trying to be adult about the situation.
(Until today.)
I was SERIOUSLY pissed.
Go to HR and politely - quietly - but firmly ask their help to document and resolve the incidents - mention filing a formal grievance - tell them you are at a loss how to proceed and you want to keep your job...
Maybe.
Mike
I agree Mike. (And I appreciate your input.)
I've taken the first step and involved a General Foreman.
Starting with, "I hate to even discuss this, it is so Juvenile."
He knows I work very hard.
I wanted to kick someones A**.
I've not gotten into any of the past 2 1/2 years of BS.
If it is hot, and you sweat, and you are old enough, tell them it risks your health from heat injury to turn the fan off.
But you have not said why she does that, either.
This has just escalated within the last week or so.
As I have relayed, She was trying to pull the "Girl Card," and get the only physically demanding aspect of her job put off on me.
It didn't fly.
She is just being vindictive.
Thanks though Barz.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but she is going to give a reason why she turns the fan off, and it is not going to be "just to bother him".
She did.
When I finally asked her "Do you have a problem with my fan being on??"
She replied "Yes, I'm chilly."
I stated, "This is not your work area, you are just passing through," what makes you think you are going to dictate that position to me?"
Pretty much what I relayed to the Foreman that came by.
I did not get into all the other BS.
You have to play the game somewhat....
You should have canned - preplanned and somewhat thought out responses to the next few likely issues...
Game it out in your head.
Stress to HR in private that you want and need their help to fix this - and that you are embarrassed and at a loss what to do next - you don't want to be a problem person or make more work for them but you feel a proffesional obligation to notify them before others complain or there is a more visible disruption in the workplace...
The second you appear loud or angry or challenging you will let her label you a threat or a source of fear.
Get ahead of her decision loop and inside her turn radius while appearing to be the clueless happy guy needs assistance.
It seems petty and pre-emptive but it's just a smarter way to fight.
Ask you doctor for a note on official stationary that shows you require a a fan at work for health and safety issuez.
Mike
Mike
Believe me Mike, I'm a fairly intelligent guy.
I've played the various scenarios out in my head.
Although I now work a manual labor job, I was a Lead Manager at various companies for apprx 27 years.
I know how to, and can play the game if needed.
I finally lost my temper today.
Granted I gave her an edge, where She can now bring in the " I was afraid scenario."
(I raised my voice.)
When She kept saying, "just touch me," I assured Her I did not want to touch Her, (in any manner.) I found the idea, repulsive. "Trust me." [:0][:D][}:)]
. . . snip
She replied "Yes, I'm chilly."
snip . . .
Apologize to her.
Tell her you are a man and did not understand that sort of thing.
Tell her you had been misinformed earlier in life.
Tell her you had always thought that menopause caused "hot flashes" not "chilly flashes".
Don't forget to tell us how this worked out for you.
[:D]
She can put on a sweatshirt - you can't take off more of your clothing...
Mike
LOL, pretty much word for word what I told her.
I (wanted) to tell Her, to GTF out of my Work area. She has been trying to obtrusively be in my way, as much as possible, last couple weeks. I've tried to point out, that She was "in the way."
Im over it.
Repeately turning my fan off, was the last straw.
As stated, I lost my temper with Her.
She is lucky, She is not a guy.
NRA Lifetime Benefactor Member.
She can wear a sweater.
But mine turns on his heater cause he is cold.
They are wondering why the last guy who had my job went off the deep end.
This guy turns on his heater. Tries to whistle and it sounds like he just ate a box of salteens. Talk about eating he eats from the moment he gets to work till he goes home. The whole time eating with his mouth open a cow eats quieter than he does. Just to give you and Idea he eats a sandwich 20 minutes before he goes to lunch. About 10 minutes after lunch he is eating an Apple.
He is a college Grade an engineer. But cannot read an e-mail with out reading it out loud. Try doing drawings that require you t0 input numbers when he all of a sudden starts reading something with numbers in it.
While eating his peanuts I have had him look in on my work spitting peanuts all over me cause he cannot chew with his mouth shut.
Almost to the point of telling them Time to put us in separate offices. Or time for me to move on.
I am glad you maintained some control but I'm curious what your job is that is so physically demanding.
I work in a Tractor Trailer assembly line. Very fast paced, very labor intensive.
For the last 3 months I've been " hanging doors."
It is one of the more labor intensive jobs in the plant.
The doors weigh on average 150-175lbs each.
I use cranes and hoists, but the fit (of the 4-5 hinges per door,) is precise.
Getting washers top and bottom, of each bolt in the door hinge, and getting things aligned is challenging to say the least.
I'm on a 15', rolling 200-250lb. Ladder, that I am manipulating by body movement.
Pounding door bolts in place after trying to get the best alignment possible. Pry bars and screw drivers, and torque wrenches come into play.
On average, 17 trailers a day. 34 doors. 135+ bolts, 270 washers. This is only a partial list of my responsibilities.
(Does not even come close actually.)
There are a lot of other things I have to accomplish.
Swinging other (just made doors) by crane hoists on tracks into place. Moving trailers up, by 5-10ton crane hoists up, without killing someone working underneath, installing hold backs on the trailer sides, (they are all different.) Some quite involved, etc. 1/2 hour per movement on average.
It's always "faster, faster."
"But Work safe." [}:)]
LOL.........
Etc. Etc. Etc............
BE THE FIRST TO HR!

That is the somewhat the funny part USMG. She has been having " hot flashes," for a couple years now.
She will be sweating, and want the outside door open, (in the wintertime,) when we are all freezing.
The Plant is such that you freeze in the winter, sweat your butt off in the warmer weather.
For Her to be pulling this "I'm chilly," BS, is merely a vindictive way for her to try and tweak me, as Her Gender BS trying to put more work on me, did not fly last week.
It is pretty transparent, and a big reason why I lost my temper today.
Pretty much what happened today Mike, in the trifecta.
As I said, I'm not proud of myself.
I was over and done with the petty vindictive BS.
I called.
Put up, or shut up.
Sounds like she has been baiting you, and you finally fell into her trap. Hope it works out for you, but HR departments can be a real PIA as I'm sure you know.
Nothing like a poor little woman being accosted by an 'angry bear of a MAN.'
Not to be PC, but you could have avoided this potential problem by going straight to a supervisor right?

I can attest to this fact.
Sounds like you need a cold beer and some dog time. Too bad some folks have to be such *.
I'm doing both, and is is greatly helping. Thanks Neo.

I would have liked to Marc, as my immediate Supervisor, is also a friend.
He was off today. Had a fill in Supervisor, who did not want to get involved.
I tried, before it escalated.

I hope you have that documented.
I will say, you lasted longer than I did with the troublesome turd I put up with at work.
I have a very low threshold for "troublemaking turds "
Better than $150/hr "Therapy."
Is she Hot ? [:p]
If you like the Looney Tunes, Tasmanian Devil Physic, She is right up your alley.
Voice reminds me of fingernails on chalkboard.
Sound enticing??

A stiff right cross, or a right uppercut??
How about a Haymaker??
I'm okay, with using knees or elbows.

Well,...that's about all you can do is try. Like others have said, get your * into HR first if possible.
The deck is probably already stacked against you, as I have found HR employees to be almost exclusively females.[xx(]
You are concerned that your work place has become a hostile environment.
Your female co-worker keeps on that "she is cold" She needs help because "she is a woman" keeps coming in to your work area and seeking to get your attention.
And the last straw- when she kept asking you to touch her.

Sounds like she wants to go so deep on the D that she'd have to come back up slow so she doesn't get the bends.[:D][:I]
Since the dawn of Eve, women have been born inherently evil.
Yup!
got a LockOut/TagOut box for the fan? [:)] turn it on, and lock it
you don't have to play her game. the game is: to get you pissed. so, every time she turns it off, turn it back on. wait for her to turn it off. you know she's going to. then go turn it back on. every. single. time. then you can tell your boss, hey, do you notice I'm not getting much done lately? that's because I have to go turn the fan back on every 5 minutes. and that, is because Mrs. Rottencrotch turns it off every 5 minutes. now, if you want my production to get back up to where it was, you're going to have to tell that slobette to not turn the damn thing off, because it's hot in here and I have to have the fan on, and I'm going to turn it back on every time.
Bushmaster, that off, right back on, scenario was the Juvenile crap that was escalating all day, until I finally stood by the switch after getting PO'd as indicated in my prior posts.
Unbelievably Juvenile.
No "lock out/tag out," option available.
In fact, when I approached the first Foreman who walked by after the confrontation, (a notorious AH.)
He pointed out that "that was not my fan. It is here to move air in the Plant, not for one specific person. We can solve this, how about we remove the fan?"
Did I mention He is an AH??
I replied "that is not the solution to this problem."
I did not get into all the other BS that has been occurring. You simply can not talk to this guy without getting the above type responses.
The only reason I discussed it with him was a CYA move on my part, to put forth my story prior to Her, doing the same.
He said he would discuss the situation with her.
I saw him speaking with the lady i work most closely to. She is a friend. (Not the same woman involved.)
Unbelievably Juvenile crap to deal with, on top of a difficult job.

Tell her to put her jacket on, let her know that you're hot and you use the fan to cool down. The only other way that you can cool down is to take your clothes off. But we all know that would be against the law, indecent exposure . But it's not against the law for her to put on a jacket. Or tell her to keep out of your work area, Because you don't want her stealing your tools anyway
