2 Refurb laptops - Which is better?

My current IBM T21 refurb is due to be re-refurbed and relegated to use as a back-up, or maybe just file storage. I'm shopping for a newer, better machine on a modest budget and I've narrowed it down to these two choices:

Not being an expert on the computer lingo of giga-mega specs, I could use a little advice. Apart from the LCD/XGA display difference, would one of these be appreciably better than the other?

Laptops are TOO cheap to even consider used.

BTW: I am working on a Dell Vostro right now.
Slipgate I see your point. I think my problem is Vistaphobia.
Vista is fine, you use it for 1 day and it is just like any other MS O/S. In fact, better! Don't let Vista scare you off from a good laptop! We have not had a single issue either technically or with usability with Vista. I wouldn't use anything else right now!
BTW: Windows 8 is available for a FREE download right now. It is a "release candidate" which is 1 step up from beta. The free download only works for a year though.

+1, I would never consider a refurb. Just get new and be done.
