I know alot of folks wrote it off a year or two ago as a farce show. But I continues to watch because....well I like guns. And beyond all the drama they occasionally do build something interesting.
But the 1st two shows of this new season have been ridiculous.A cannon mounted in the cab of a pickup truck. And twin machine guns mounted on snowmobile converted into a sandmobile.
No matter how excited the son-in-law gets and hollers his approval of these projects, they are ludicrous.

The cannon in a pickup, and twin Mag-58s on a snowmobile are interesting concepts, and I'm sure they're a lot of fun, but it kinda falls into the realm of "grasping-at-straws"-type work to me. Are they that short on real, regular gun work that they take on anything that walks through the door?

I just don't buy the bs reasons for builds.

Some woopide doo retired general wants 100 of the best ARs that can be made.

And of the 100s of AR companies the only place to fit the order is some shop in LA that started doing saiga conversions.
And then charges $3000 for a $1200 pin together AR kit.

I watched it last night because there was nothing else on but reruns. I thought the builds were a lot more interesting than the fighting between the employees.

Why would anyone take a Polaris Snowmobile, stick a radiator in a totally unprotected area, remove the skies from the front and fabricate mounts for wheels when they could buy one off the show room floor. It's called the "Can- Am Spyder" and has 5 speeds plus reverse.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BRP_Can-Am_Spyder_Roadster

The one they cobbled up had a belt track drive for snow/sand and would not last long on a hard surface like pavement. If you slapped a mudder on the rear the Spyder, it would go anywhere with an agressive ATV tire.

But that said, what does reason and logic have to do with a TV show.

The best part of the show,is when the son-in-law gets after the daughter...Next,he will be topping her on a table...This kind of gun show does nothing to send a positive message...[:(]

Sons of guns has gone off the rails. The old man has lost it and they really need to find some reality to stay current.

    Never did like the show.

Did he ever get his FFL back or does he still have to rely on someone else to actually do the gun dealing?

I probably shouldn't say more, but I know folks who have visited their shop.

I saw 1 episode when they were doing an multiple AR carbine build. The producers tried to build some drama towards the end when the shop was conducting a test fire. The commentator noted towards the end that the entire project was in danger because they forgot to do something. They forgot to install the forward sling swivels, like somehow that was going to be a deal breaker. I never watched the show again.

All reality shows are scripted. They contrive drama and conflict. Will and Vince have lunch together regularly.

The gun projects have always been outrageous and ridiculous. A show about putting scope rings on a Model 700 would not be very interesting.

The exploding targets are totally stupid. Just looking for more excitement.

I watch it because there is so little on TV to hold my interest. This barely qualifies. I won't miss it much when it's gone.

Oh that reminds me is that other gun show still on? You know the one where the wife and the daughter looks more like a stripper team and the son who thinks he's a master engraver?

Wild West Guns Alaska is actually kind of fun. It's highly scripted though and so far low drama.

As if its reality show on Discovery Channel weren't enough, Red Jacket Firearms is the subject of another drama unfolding in Baton Rouge federal court involving federal agents and an ex-wife. In a civil case itself filled with intrigue worthy of an episode or two, Sons of Guns star Will Hayden and the company he founded are being accused by former family members of securities fraud for allegedly issuing worthless stock certificates.

The suit concerns 17 shares that Hayden and then-wife Trudy Lee issued in 2002, just as the firearms business was getting off the ground. Using generic stock forms they downloaded from the Internet, they gave 10 shares in Red Jacket Firearms to Joseph Radford in return for carpentry work on their retail store; two shares to Lee's son, Joshua Currey, for his birthday; and two shares to Earl Lee, Trudy Lee's father.

The problem came eight years later, when Hayden had to forfeit his federal firearms license issued to Red Jacket Inc. after running into trouble with the U.S. Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms over "record-keeping discrepancies," according to court documents. He transferred an inventory of automatic firearms to a new company, Red Jacket Firearms LLC. The three shareholders allege they were never informed of the transfer, and subsequently learned their shares are now worthless.

"William Hayden's sole intention in transferring the firearms was to comply with the ATF and federal regulations regarding automatic firearms," Hayden's attorney, Michael Reese Davis, writes in a memo. "Mr. Hayden did not intend to defraud or deceive anyone in connection with the stock certificates or in connection with the transfer of the firearms."

In one of the most recent developments in the case, ex-wife Trudy Lee voluntarily came forward with an affidavit supporting not her own son and father, but rather her ex-husband. In a memo to the judge, attorneys for the three plaintiffs cried foul, alleging Hayden had begun dating Lee shortly after she was named as a potential witness in the case, then had her arrested for simple burglary two days after the affidavit favorable to him was made official. Attorneys for Red Jacket have asked U.S. District Judge James Brady to dismiss the case. Meanwhile, Discovery Channel plans to begin airing the fourth season of Sons of Guns on April 19.
