Pheasants back mushrooms

Found a bunch out morel hunting on elm trees.

Left them alone, but researched them.

Also called dryad's saddle.

Went and looked in my elm and maple Grove, and I have a bunch growing.

Harvested a couple, they smell like watermelon rinds like they say.

Gonna try saut?ing some tonight in butter with garlic and onions.

You fellars ever eat these?


PS, I didn't find any morels yet. Still to early. Any day though.

I didn't know they were edible. [:I] By the way, I know are morels are in because, there are a million Japanese people, on the side of the roads, in the pine barrens, picking them. That's how we know they are in. They come from NY, Philly and North Jersey when they are ripe for the pickings. They also harvest all the wild tea berries. They must either use them in their restaurants or sell them. Either way, their are literally, vans and box truck loads of Japanese, all over the pines lately. Oakie

Went out to a small patch of Asparagus across the road in the ditch.
Gonna sauteup with the shrooms and feed em to the wife unit as an experiment.[;)]

Apparently the wife unit, and 16 yr old daughter like them.

If all is clear tomorrow, I'll try some.(I'm allergic to morels)
