,,,,,,,,,,they're gonna rust in a fish tank !!!!!![}:)][:D]
They'll be easier to retrieve than from the bottom of a lake.[:)]
Remember if the house burns, the safe winds up in the swimming pool (basement).
So what floor would you recommend keeping a safe.[:D]

[:D][:D][:D][:D],exactly,,,
The floor/subfloor is what is going to tend to get pressed beyond capacity.
After you determine the exact placement of (especially the heavier safe) you can locate the joists in relation to placement.
Either adjust the placement until the weight is evenly supported by joists, or lay a few 2x10's/2x12's under the weight to pick up the support of another joist/spread the weight across.
***DISCLAIMER***
The above ramblings are the opinions of a dumb redneck country boy, and not a licensed engineer.
I will not be responsible for the damage caused by the upper floor of your house falling down upon and crushing the contents of the lower floor and covering it with busted guns, water, and dead stinky fish.
Two walls will have the joists running perpendicular and two walls
will have the joists running parallel.
The MORE joists you have the load on the better.
Your Fish tank may be only 30" wide by 72" long and if on the
"wrong" wall will have only one joist under it.
Also depends on WHICH wall you place the items.

Yes.
I was picturing a wall with joists running perpendicular.
I should have noted in my disclaimer that I had made a pre-coffee analysis. [:D]
The best strength would be in a corner, assuming there is a supporting wall directly under the upper wall.
