France-USA same-same?

A well traveled friend of mine and I were talking recently. He said that France was very similar to USA in this regard: If you look at the residents of the largest cities, particularly Paris, you see a lot of people that are rude, arrogant with a self-focus and pride that exceeds any personal basis. They are also very socialistic in political viewpoint. But if you go into the smaller cities and countryside you meet people that are friendly, courteous and generally conservative and self-sufficient in perspective.
So does this bring anything to mind in the present demographics of the USA?

I've lived in cities and on mountain tops. I think your observation is very valid.
You can be an * if your chances of running into a person twice is slim.
With more frequent contact, we tend to hold others more accountable.
This is tha' town my pappy told me about.
That's why I love "Mayberry"
+1 The place to live. In real life, the show was filmed on a lot not far from the LA race riots..........
