Troy Industries is offering to replace the sight with an upgraded model of a design similar to that of a M4, so it will have positive detents instead of relying on friction to hold it in place. [:D]

I am adamant that the handguard is no place to mount a sight, so I will replace the gas block with one that has a sight rail on it. CAN ANY OF YOU RECOMMEND A GOOD ONE? [:0]

The new gas block/front sight combo will interfere with the factory handguard, so I will probably relieve the top rail for clearance. Someone recommended a Dremel tool. I can lay hands on one, but which attachment would you use? Cut-off wheel? [?]

Yankee Hill makes a gas block/folding front sight combo. Never used one but they have a reputation for quality stuff.

Whats wrong with the handguard I thought they were supposed to be sturdy? from what I've seen they are pretty strong


I have a 15A
and the 15Ts are ok as long as it was stag made

the rails on them I think would be sturdy enough for a front sight..

Take your handguard off. Put it back on. Check your zero. You will see what I mean.

what happens when you shoot it though? does the zero move then? the 15A comes with standard handguards, not the fancy troy built jobbers..

And if you are going to cut it I would use something more than a dremel.. hell to be precise maybe a drill press and then smooth it out with a dremel, or even a jig saw.
