.....please do not pull it out, lay it on the counter at the sporting goods department, and ask the girl who is taking English classes to earn her U.S. Citizenship that you want ammunition for it.
Thank you.
John (yes, this really happened at my store).

Don't let fruitcakes carry on your property and you don't have these problems anymore.
Pretty cool huh? [xx(]
Can't beat stupid, it'll get you every time. The worst part is that the clerk probably didn't know either!
according to him she was taking english leasons to become a us citizen. I hardly dought she new anything about guns.
If you are asked to leave, do so immediately. To not comply on private property is a crime.
What wal-mart was this?
Pembroke Pines, Florida.

I find the disturbing part.... That he asked a WALMART employee what ammo would fit the gun.[B)]
could have been a weird gun and the guy wasnt sure. could have also been new to guns and just wanted ammo to plink with who knows. what i find disturbing is walmart is hiring no leagals that are taking english classes. How about we wait at least untill there leagal before hiring them.

And putting them in SPORTING GOODS? DUH.
Put them in footwear where the shoes have sizes in a few languages.
Or electronics where the product was probably made by a cousin.

So far as not knowing the caliber of his weapon, if that's the case, then yes, the man is an idiot.
However I have found that some experts become so 'expert' that they assume everyone else knows what they are talking about. You or I see a Ruger Mk2 we'll instantly know, .22 LR (for instance). He might have REASONABLY assumed that if a distinctive and common piece with clearly stamped ammo requirements, that a SPORTING GOODS clerk would know his (this case her) job and provide the proper ammo.
Regarding learning English- I agree she shouldn't have been on the sales floor yet; however who says she is an illegal? She's got a job on the books, not under the table, is paying her taxes (presumably if she works at wal-mart) and is taking classes in English- which I applaud her for! Not her fault that the store manager put her there. Works? Came here legally? Working toward her citizenship officially? Learning the language? Sounds like the makings of a great American to me, the poster child for 'how immigrants SHOULD do it'.
How do you not know what caliber a gun is, when every gun has it on there for you to see? And even if you don't see that, you first probably saw it when you looked at the price tag at the store, saw it again when the FFL brought the box out, when he wrote the caliber down while filling out the FFL, while opening the box and looking at the gun, while reading the manual which clearly states what caliber it is. I'm tired now.
You should not own firearms. That is an ig'nant statement. Bet you I can produce a few firearms out of my collection (if I owned firearms) that you would not know the calibre, would not be able to find an "owners manual" and have probably never had a 4473 filled out on them. You probably would not be able to guess the cailbre either.
Unreasonable interpetation of this ammendment is why we will lose, idiots quote:Originally posted by Odawgp

Don't worry, all mine are at the bottom of a lake right now. But of the ones I did have, all of them had calibers on them, whether they were brand new or whether they were from WW2. I think my oldest was made in 1938 or so, so I will say that there may be some guns made before that time that did not have calibers on them. But I don't suppose someone would bring a gun made in 1900 into a Walmart and ask what caliber it is. But then again.
