The Oddest Thing...

I was sitting in the basement, reading the Gbroker stuff.

I heard a "bump" upstairs. And distinctly smelled cigarette smoke.

It was so vivid, that I grabbed my pistol and cleared the house. Top to bottom. Under the beds, closets and bathtubs.

Nothing.

So clearly, I was mistaken. But it sure was real when I heard/smelled it. And a bit of sweating during the time I was sneaking around corners and "pie-ing" doorways.

No one has smoked in this house in the last 10 years. Don't know what stray brain hicup caused all that... But it was unsettling.

About bedtime, I have a strong smoke smell in my room, always about 9:30PM. Smells like Marlboros, and very pungent.
Almost every night. It last 10-15 min, then it's gone.

No noises though. My wife doesn't smell it, but I sure do.
I have searched the house several time for a fire, but it's a cigarette smell for sure. I don't smoke and never have.

I am the 3rd owner of this house.

    I'm not kidding.

Did you ever used to smoke?
Maybe something tricked your mind and brought back an old urge.

I haven't smoked in 12 years. Sometimes the smell of Marlboros catches me off guard too.

Stopped smoking 5 or so years ago.

I can sit in a bar next to someone chain smoking and not worry about starting again.

    But this was very wierd.

    Very very odd indeed.

I know the smell of cigarettes.

Maybe urge wasn't the right word for what I meant.
You ever smell something that brings back a forgotten memory? Maybe you had a subconscious thought that brought back a smell.

You were visited by someone who's no longer here but was checking in. [;)]

I had the same thing happen last week and started asking for my father. After about 5 minutes the odor was gone.
Not enough time to grab and start the digital recorder.

I don't smoke myself and of acquaintances that do, none have been in here in the last year.

Was going to post last night to this. Every once in a while I can smell a cigar. No places close to mine and I have not had one since 1990.

But what got me to post was an alarm went off this morning and woke me up. It was not one of mine. Sort of sounded like a phone when it gets a text/e-mail. Mine did not recieve any. Still no Idea what that was.

    Paranormal activity
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

    BOS,
Get yourself a digital recorder or get yours out and start askin' questions for a few minutes and then play back the recording.
Someone's wantin' to talk to you about something.

Anyone in the family elsewhere in the country that smokes?
It may be their subliminal signal to you to reach out to them.

    Just a thought.
