I "need" a new pair of hearing protectors for the range. What are your thoughts. I would like to keep them under $100.

Best protection is still foam plugs ($.50) stuffed as far down in the ear as possible with a good, quality earmuff ($25) over the top of them.
So, you choose- $75 for earmuffs now or $6000 later for hearing aids.

Mine are in effect hearing aids that digitally compress the noise of the shot. I can hear people talking (or leaves rustling in the woods) but when I fire the electronics blank out the impulse.

Never work up heavy elk slayer loads for a .300 Win. Mag using tissue paper wads in your ears.
Do not ask me how I know this. [B)][:0]
