Tracing a call?

For the past couple of days I have been getting phone calls and when I answer they hangup and when I call them back there is no answer and no message. Is there anyway I can trace the call back and see who it is?

About all YOU can do is activate Caller ID. But, if they have a blocked number, that won't help. You can contact the abuse department at the phone company and let them know. They can trace the calls even if the caller activates his block. If the calls are intentional harassment, they can tell you what your legal options are.

you didn't get snarky with someone that called your number by mistake did you? to play it safe, if you are planning on selling a vehicle soon... hold off a while.

hmmm, do your phone bills have the numbers listed for calls to and from? i take it you don't have caller id... you might be able to have the phone company setup a blocker for numbers that withhold information. like a counter *62 or *67 or whatever it is.

I was getting calls from a place called U S Diabetics once or twice a day for months. They never said a thing or left a message. I called the number and got "PRESS ONE FOR SALES OR TWO FOR THE DO NOT CALL LIST" [xx(] Could press the numbers all day and not get anyone.
Reported them to phone co. nad FCC with NO results. Finally had blocking service put on phone [;)]
Now block all the trolls [:D]

    Except 800 numbers [:(!]

Another method is an old police whistle. If you say "hello" and no one talks back to you, give them a nice long blast and hang up. LOL

    Here is a good one.............

When you answer and they ask for you and you know it is a telemarketer, Just say I'll get him and set the phone down, when you hear the Beep, beep, beep, you know they got tired of waiting. and you wasted that much of there time, they would have done the same to you.

Press *57 next time it will tell you if the call was traced.Call the phone company, they will contact the police. It all depends on how bad you want to know who it was.

I have told telemarketers that I would like to buy 2! even before they say what they are selling.

Then, I tell them I will buy as soon as I get a job and my wife gets out of prison.

(The wife really loves hearing my side of the conversation)[}:)]

The phone company will trace the calls how ever they will never tell you who it was.

When i worked dispatch, and one of these "Phone Creatures" (look up Rusty Mitchum's discussion on Phone Creatures in the Lindale Times-funny as hell!) would call and wake me up, i was known to answer "Lindale Police Department"......well, i was half asleep, and was thinking i was at work or something.....they eventually quit.
