What Happened to the Home Defense Craze?

edited June 2008 in General Discussion
Last year or so every other topic seemed to be "Tactical" or "Home Defense" this or that. From strike anywhere kitchen matches to extra springy tactical toilet seats, goofballs were extolling the virtues of turning Home Sweet Home into FORTRESS TERRA.

I used to LMAO when people would write silly stuff. What happened to them?

people probably realized that "tactical" is just a way to increase the gun's price 50-100% my slapping on a coat of black paint and clipping on a handful of cheap plastic parts that in no way make the weapon more effective [:D]

Home defence is alive and well here. I just completed my 50 ft. moat with a drawbridge, purchased two large dragons and added 50 crocodiles
to the moat. Also hired four archers with crossbows. Now I feel safer.

My battery of 155mm's can take out your moat, dragons, crocs, and archers from beyond line of sight, so I'm not too worried about it.

I've already tactical-ized all of my firearms, holsters, vests, faucets, windows, and lighting fixtures, so I feel that the topic no longer needs discussion.[:D][:p]

We are scared of the government and we don't want to own no more guns
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

After most people tac'd out their weapons they couldnt afford to buy ammo anyway. What ever happened to the simple life? Prior to tactical
    stupidity.

I guess I learned a long time ago, I don't need the newest/latest gadgets. Plain SP1, plain 870, worked Combat Commander[:D], + S&W wheelguns. I will admit my eyes are to the point I need a scope or receiver sights on rifles. I can no longer use the standard sights on my Marlin 336 or 39. Oh well.

I wuz working on all that, but the extra-springy toilet seat launched my * into the ceiling and smacked me hard on my balls, so I'm now in rehab, having my balls massaged every day by some young woman from Swedan and am learning to speak again.

The phrase Tactical is so over used that it currently means
    1. Charge 30 % more due to the use of " Tactical" in title.
    2. Its probably junk in the first place.

    I have a 12 shot Tactical rubber-band pistol....

    Look at this ad campaign.

    Remember this rifle auction?

I'm surprised it didn't have dish network on it. Or a wheelbarrow supplyed to cart all that stuff that was bolted on it.[B)]

Oh my, that rifle has everything.

What tickles me is the color of things, a few years ago everything was tactially black, now everything is green and tan because of our war over in the middle east. What will be the color of the day next?

After listening to Hillary and Obama in the Democratic race for Nomination i've come to the realization that we are all God's cratures and should get along just like peas and carrots. I have such faith in my fellow humans that I have sold all my guns, joined PETA, and reduced my carbon footprint by 90%. [;)]

thehighroad.org is the forum where all the tactical people hang out.

Also home of the folks who wear guns in their homes 24/7.

    And the zombie hunters.

By their very nature fads are ephemeral. It is difficult to sustain peak experience and thus fads like tactical home defense, SHTF preperation tend to come and go except for the dedicated lunatic fringe.[}:)]

lawdog you did notice that the bell bottoms of today are not quite the same as the old ones from the late 60's right? No way are the fashion folks gonna let you get a double dip out of them.

Mental pathology is not rendered less pathological because the prevailing delusion is an impending SHTF scenario or perceived need for constant vigilance. Such delusion does serve a purpose, however, and that is to justify the inordinate expenditure of family income on all manner of tactical this and extreme that demanded by the imagined scenario.
