Gander Mountain

I went to Gander earlier to kill some time. While I was there I thought I would get some powder for reloading my 7mm Rem. so I get three pounds of IMR 7828 and then I noticed that the price had been blacked out with a marker. So I asked for a price check and they wanted $39.99 for a pound of powder!!

I knew that they were high but man now they have gone completely crazy.

I can get it at the local gun club for $22 per lb. I won't go back.

Stopped by the store near me, Lakeville MN, after some other errands in the area...wanted to see their new "state of the art" shooting range addition...what a joke...I walk over to the area reception counter, look to my left and through glass see what appears to be 5 lanes crammed in this "room"...I asked the guy working at the counter, "Is that the range?"...he replys "yes"...I ask how deep is that thing...he sez 30ft...I asked how much to shoot, he sez 29.00 an hour...I said really, turned around and left...they have been advertising this thing like crazy....very disappointing to say the least...[V]

Went to our local Gander Mountain today to buy a new Nikon scope for a rifle. Salesperson got it out and let me look it over. Said I would take it, but needed to go back to the truck to get the rifle so they could mount and boresight it. He said, "That'll be an extra $25." Since when did anyone start charging to mount and boresight a scope that you buy from them? I refused to buy the scope, went down the road to a locally owned place, bought the same scope and they mounted and bore sighted at no cost to me. I have bought scopes at Gander in the past and they always did it for free. I am done with them, and just told them so in a letter to customer service. We'll see what happens!

What in the world is Gander mountain trying to do? The prices here are out of the world. $699.00 for a glock 23.
.45 Acp mega paks for 149.00 for 250 Rnds. The used guns are priced higher than what I can buy new at my local ma&pa store and online. They had a used 500 S&W for 1025.00 and the guy at the counter said the prices are firm.I told him no thanks...........

Does anyone know what the deal is with their going out of business sale? Flyer says everything must go but it doesn't say how much of a discount they are offering.

Is it just me, or are there others
out there that think the Gander
    Mountain "used gun trade-in" policy
    sucks? Took a perfectly good
Ithaca Model 37 12 ga. in to trade
on an 7600 Rem. carbine (the best
37 of have of 7 of them). Guy
looked at it and remarked "nice
gun", then looked closer and saw it
    had one slide bar(standard) and
said that Gander Mtn. had a policy
that they could not take a gun with
just one bar because (get this) they warranty all used guns and if
the single bar breaks, they have a
warranty claim. I told him that I
had brought along a newish Model 94
but would'nt bother bringing it in
cause it only had one lever, one
trigger, and one barrel and surely
did'nt want them to take a chance on something like that! Incidently, this is'nt the first
time. I've taken NIB rifles in and
had the yokel look them up in their
Blue Book of Used Guns and offer
    50% of listed used price!

Man what a store. Nice people, and lots of toys.[:)][:D][:)][:D][:)]

As a FORMER gunsmith at Gander Mountain there is a $25 charge for mounting and boresighting a rifle. This is whether you bought it there or not. At the one where I was employed we waived the charge if you bought a scope there. It is 10-15 minute job and GM charges $60/hr for the gunsmiths and they are the one to do the job. The same happens when you buy tires somewhere and take them someplace else to have them mounted. They charge you a fee for their work.

I used to work part time at our local Dick's Sporting good, and Gander Mountain stores. Both did this free when I worked there, but now the GM store is charging customers for this service. If it would have closed the sale then they should have bent over backwards to do it for you.

Gander Mountain is really trying to drive themselves in the dumps IMO. I refuse to even set foot in their stores anymore.[xx(] I feel like I am not "elite" enough to even shop there if you know what I mean. It's really too bad, because I use to really like their stores.

Go to your local guy if he is decent. We mount all scopes for free whether you bought them from me or not !Service is what we ,little guys were built on.. Might be why we have been around since 1923.

The prices at my GM are way too high. Looked at a Honda generator and it was $200 more than anywhere else I could buy one. The same Igloo cooler walmart has for $34.97, they have for 69.99. Their ammo is really pricy also. I wont be back.

the gander mtn is pricing them selves out of business. They have a used Springfield m1a standard priced at $1899.00??? and a used Bushmaster m4 $1099.00 go figure ammo price is higer than anyone else in the area. If you buy a scope from them they do charge $25.00.

MFI is correct. One of the reasons I don't work there because of things like this. I didn't charge for this ( I didn't charge for the "little" things) that is why my shop was #4 in the company as a 1 man shop. I had alot of repeat customers, I treated all as they were a friend, and some still are 1,200 miles away!

There was a message sent out to all gunsmiths that "your time is worth at least $60/hr, charge accordingly".

They treated their gunsmiths good, but their customers poorly. The first person I have to live with is myself.

Gander Mt is good to window shop or maybe buy a wodsy type gift but as far as gun related items support your local gun shop.

Only purchased one firearm from them over the years. They matched an advertised price on a shotgun I wanted. Other than that, their stuff is over priced........

I mount and boresight my own scopes.

And I RARELY buy from anyone but my two favorite locally owned small shops.

I try to purchase from my smaller local shops whenever I can. Nothing like going to one of the big chain stores, taking numbe and waiting just so you can see what is in the cases. I also like how the guys behind the counter personally own one of whatever you are looking at [:D]
