I've never shot a semi-auto Valmet, but the full-auto I shot was a DREAM! I was pinging propane tanks at 400 yards, off hand with it the first couple of shots. Awesome gun. The guy who owned it had paid about $8k for it. They are $15-20k now. :(

it may be "new" and maybe even a bit "purtier", but for $1200 you could build at least 4-5 from parts kits and flats
    (and no 4473 attached)

I had one of those in semi-auto. It broke 3 firing pins before I sold it. I still liked it anyway.

have you priced parts kits lately? $300 for a Romy "G", $100 for a receiver, $100 for compliance parts....

4 Romy Parts kit gun don't equal 1 Valmet.

Thanks for the input people. I felt good about it befoe, and feel even better about it now. I already ordered extra firing pins for it, but from the little bit of information I found the serial range of the 76 I bought doesn't have those issues. Thanks again everyone

I certainly welcome your experiece and input, but I really wanted one in .223, and I look at everything I purchase as an investment. It is all what a person looks to accomplish with their money spent. Thanks again for taking the time to reply, I appreciate hearing from all angles.

sorry i didnt take into consideration the current buying frenzy that has driven them up, but before recently $180 for parts kit sometimes cheaper, $25 for a FLAT (read a bit closer, a bought reviever adds the 5573 as well)and another $10-12 for the rivet kit and your time wh8ich if you love guns you do for the enjoyment of it...came to just over $200 each
mine so far has been accurate and not a single malfunction

not trying to insult you, just pointing out if you want a fun, dependable gun, there are lots of cheaper alternatives
i RARELY buy as "an investment", with the excetption of an occasional antique for restoration that may ba an un-available caliber, i buy to shoot

I didn't feel insulted, you offered an alternative direction than I ever would have thought about taking. I was being sincere, not sarcastic. I always appreciate people who offer info outside the norm.
