Tablet Recommendations?

Dawnie found this one on Amazon:

Chromo Incr 7" Tablet Google Android 4.1 with Touchscreen, Camera, 1024x600 Resolution, Netflix, Skype, 3D Game Supported - Black [New Model June 2014

http://tabletreviewer.org/chromo-inc-7-tab-pc-android-4-1-3-review/

She bought it for Bry to replace one that she stepped on and broke. It was very inexpensive, around $50.

I got to thinking that something like that might be handy to have, to take to a gun show maybe, and check current sales on GunBroker. So, I was thinking of ordering another one.

Today, I took Bry's tablet up to familiarize myself with it a bit. I found it very frustrating to use. Screen is small. Some icons were unresponsive, and other seemed to jump into action without being invited. I got to GunBroker, but was unable to sign in.

Long story, sorry. Short version is that I might like to have something like this, but not this small.

Any recommendations?

    Isn't a Kindle just a book reader?

No sir. I am posting from my Kindle Fire HD right now. I have been for the past few weeks actually. I took pictures with it and listed a couple guns on the auction side with it too. I am not going to lie, I am addicted to it! I don't have a smart phone with a fancy camera, so that and surfing the web/paying bills are my favorite uses so far. It picks up wireless printers automatically and Wi-Fi too, so all you need to do is insert the password once...next time you go from your house to your brothers(example), it will automatically switch to their Wi-Fi.

I only have a 7" screen though. If your eyes aren't the best, you might want to go larger. You can zoom in on anything though and I use a stylus pen.

Pretty happy with my Dell Venue 8. Runs Android 4.4.2. Nice pictures, great with Skype. Still haven't figured it all out yet.

    Just a quick note.
You will need to create a hotspot with your phone or use one with cell capabilities.
Probably the fairgrounds or armory or wherever you gun shows are held isn't the best place to go looking for free wi-fi

I like the iPad mini. Kindle fire has a nice screen but is much harder to use as a tablet.

My wife loves her Kindle HD. The biggest difference I can see in it and my daughters Ipad is price and I believe the Ipad has a bigger battery as it will last longer between charges, but the Ipad is heavier.

This one is as good as it gets:

    I would suggest a manufacturer's refurbished iPad.

Available (online) at the Apple store, Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Best Buy, etc.

As good as a new one for a lot less money.

Bought my wife one about 3 years ago for Christmas. Has not had any problems.

Bought a Dell Tablet a couple of years ago.

Much prefer books with paper and bindings.

Thing was too big to put in a pocket.

I used it for about a month and went back to my iPhone and reading normal books.

We just replaced our old netbook with a NextBook 10.1. It comes with a removable keyboard so you can use it as a laptop or a tablet. It's Windows based (I hate Android), has a 10-hour battery life, a very bright clear screen, and costs $179 at Wallie World or online.
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

For an 8 inch Android, Sams has an Acer for $114. I got one for a Europe trip because it has a GPS. It will be velcrod to the rental car dash with preloaded maps.

BestBuy has a white Chromebook for about 150,

I would avoid cheap no-name tablets.

But let me say this, after having two different 10 inch tabs, the last being an Asus, I switched to a Chromebook and find it faster to type and work on. I sit in a recliner, pillow on my lap with the tilt screen set to my liking, and use the keyboard, which is faster than a virtual screen keyboard.

stay away from cheap no names. Wife has a kindle fire HD7, its nice. Personally im looking to get one and would like one a little bigger, probably the same size as a regular ipad.

Things to look for would be battery life, memory, and im sure this is dumb as they probably all are, but make sure they have WiFI capability.

One nice thing about the ipad is allows you to take pictures as well.

I have a Samsung tab 4 and Donna has a kindle fire hd. Buy the kindle fire hd and never look back. I love my tab 4, but the kindle is much better.

Well, depending on which one you get...
    Some are only readers.
We have three. Two are readers. One is a tablet.

None of them are worth a damn if you're trying to swat a bug. That's the big advantage of still getting a newspaper.

Only tablet we have that is still working is the samsung tab 2 10.1. Wife wants to get one ( one we have is my son's) and it will be a samsung of some sort. We have tried some of the lower cost ones and they just don't seem to hold out.
