Naaa. Can't see contributing to terminal stupid. He handled it well enough on his own.[;)]
You also have to nominate the guy in Texas who went swimming near the alligator warning sign.
I think he wins

Devon Staples, 22, died after he set off a firework from the top of his head in Calais, Maine Saturday night.
A freak accident involving a young man, who always wanted to make people happy, and a firework cost him his life on Independence Day.
A Fourth of July celebration resulted in the death of 22-year-old Devon Staples who authorities said set a fireworks mortar tube off his head.
His brother Cody Staples, 25, told the Daily News he was standing five feet away from Devon in a backyard in Calais, Maine. He said his brother was holding a lighter and it accidentally caused the firework to go off.
"I was the first one who got there. There was no rushing him to the hospital. There was no Devon left when I got there," his brother said. "It was a freak accident . But Devon was not the kind of person who would do something stupid."
OK, the lighter caused this. The Bic just flicked itself and BOOM.
"But Devon was not the kind of person who would do something stupid."
So doing something intelligent splattered his brains alllll over the backyard?
Not that it wasn't an idiotic thing to do, but I've shot a lot of these off from the ground, and they did not seem to have that great an impact on the ground.
How could a mortar tube have enough impact to kill him? Unless it was upside down, overcharged, blocked or multiple charged????

I'd say it was probably defective and exploded rather than firing.
He was just as unlucky as he was stupid.

too bright. I think it's bred into us.
Andy Slater of WINZ tweeted that Pierre-Paul "severely injured" his hand. Slater also referred to a neighbor of the player, who had a posted a photo of a "truck load of fireworks" in a van. That neighbor later deleted the picture.
TMZ reported Pierre-Paul suffered injuries to some of his fingers and thumb, while Sports Illustrated confirmed the injury but not the severity.
Another tweet said Pierre-Paul was taken to Broward Health North Medical Center in Deerfield Beach.

I was 5' away from a guy that held a mortar in his hand and apparently he put the mortar in the tube upside down and he blew his hand off to the wrist.
Ugliest thing I ever witnessed and worst night of my life.
That was 10 years ago and I still can picture it. I still have nightmares from it.
We used the re-usable tubes for a couple of years, but have moved to the pre-packaged 9 and 12 round boxes.
Much less individual interaction with the explosives.
Much less room for operator error at the end of a long day and in the dark.
