refinish a scope?

another post about a pistol scope reminded me i have a 4x redfield (old) scope that needs some cosmetics.
its a brushed stainless finish, but it's not stainless. some kind of plating with a brushed finish.
works fine but the finish is pealing and looks like crap.
i can sand blast it to bare metal, but how would i refinish it to a stainless look?
thanks

the "maker" has long since stopped making. new redfields are being made by leupold, but they will not service the older, original models.
Aluminum would be easy. Polish off the old finish, probably some sort of anodizing or clear coat. Polish the base metal to suit your taste. Leave as is or shoot with a heavy-duty clear coat finish.
