My daughter had a orthodontist appointment today, every time we go I notice something that really gets my blood to boil. I guess everyone has choices to make and I disagree with the choice that some so called parents have decided to make. Lets look at it this way, you have 5 kids under the age of 6 and you have a Dr. appointment, there is a choice to be made, do you:

1) Leave your kids at home with the baby daddy and attend your appointment alone.

2) Bring your kids and baby daddy to the small waiting room and do your best to keep the kids entertained.

3) Bring the whole dang clan of kids with the baby daddy into a small crowded waiting room and sit on your phone the entire time while your demon spawn run amuck destroying everything they touch while yelling at the top of their lungs with absolutely no care or concern for the people around you.

baby daddy the only one licensed to drive, ain't taking the kid by himself cause baby momma got the medical card and babby daddy kinda queasy around needles

Insurance rarely covers orthodontics. The place my kids went had a seperate little play room for the tricycle motors.

I don't think Larry has been to one doctor or dentist appointment with one of our three kids. Now that they are old enough to drive, I don't even go. I cannot imagine a doctor's or dentist appointment being a reason to gather every blood relative together and take off.

Here is what you want to do. Get a stout leather belt. Grab one of those guttersnipes by the arm, and lay three red stripes across his butt.*

    * Will shut the rest of the kids up, but you will be arrested.

I don't know about other states, but, in Maryland, your Medicaid card is valid for any dental care.

The problem is finding a dentist willing to accept the Medicaid payment schedule, which is 10-20 cents on the dollar. Most dentists won't accept new patients, because those who do will be swamped with new patients once the word gets out. Some will treat a small number of Medicaid patients, as a public service, or they will continue to treat long time patients who are down on their luck.

For most Medicaid patients, the only option is the clinic at the dental school; that may takes months to get in, & appointments can take all day due to waits & extra time taken to educate the dental students.

I look at this a predictor of what the ACA will do to our medical system, once it is fully implemented. I think that we will end up with a 2-tier medical system, & only those of us with cash will be able to get good quality care.

we are seeing this already here in Mt. Dr's on a cash basis for normal office visits. receipts are provided, but its your responsibility to do the insurance proceedings. and also many doctors not accepting new Medicare patients.

The medical card, not the insurance card.

Please pardon my ignorance. What is a medical card?
