Man...How early do normal girls start liking boys??? My 10 year old (although she doesn't look 10) has a crush on a 14 year old boy...and from what I understand, this boy had a crush on her...at least until he found out she's only 10 (I'm not sure what he thinks now). I didn't think they were supposed to start liking boys at this early age[:(!][:(] I guess it's time to lock her in the basement...problem is, I don't have a basement here![B)][?][B)][?]

    "Normal"?[;)]

Sounds about right, since girls mature faster than boys. However I doubt it would seem the same were my 16 y/o dating a college sophmore.[B)]

its simple either build a basement, or have the boy over and show him your nice gun collection and how good of a shot you are, but the trick is to act crazy when you do it, he will go tell all his friends about her crazy dad with all the guns problem solved. It works trust me an older gentleman told me this and his 22 yo daughter is still single haha.[:p]

I could respect that too. At least we would both have an understanding and I would know my daughter would be safe around him (as long as he was legally carrying).

But at this age I don't need to worry about that.

its because the world has opened up. now kids can see porn, sex and violence on machines kept in back pockets. it use to be you steered kids away from dark alleys and bad streets. but now, they 'grow up' and learn about things before their bodies are even able. be very careful and keep an eye on what we perceive as kids. theyre not. they are MUCH OLDER than we think.
its the price parents and society pay for growing kids up too fast.

I say encourage it! Thats right, ENCOURAGE IT!! Reverse physcology, it has to work because all I drilled into my baby girls head was boys was pigs, stay away from them, if you touch one you will turn green ect ect ect, I preached to my baby girl to stay single untill she got older and did the college thing then she could fall in love. It is because of my actions that I am a grandpa at the age of 37!!!!!

Seems Sir Galahad was going off to fight another war.so he decided to put a chastity belt of Geneva.
With much clanking and rearing of chargers, off to war rode the stalwart Knight..secure in the belief that his woman was safe.

The Mighty army of great warriours had just rode `round the bend when the faithful young household retainer rode up on a lathered horse, screaming."Sir Galahad..SIR GALAHAD !!!".You left the wrong KEY for the Chastity Belt !!!""

Bobski is correct...kids "grow up" faster nowadays.
My little girl will turn 10 in Dec. So far, I haven't noticed her having an interest in boys...thank God!

I'll let Mom handle the "time of the month" and boy discussions.

    GRD...I don't envy you at all...good luck!

While this is certainly true, it's not all a foregone conclusion, Eric. I actually worried that my daughter might be gay when she was your daughter's age and a bit older due to the fact that she never professed any interest in the opposite sex, and most of her male friends were gay. She only in the past few years started showing an interest in boys. She dresses modestly, not like some "hoochie mama" as most girls her age do, with their cleavage and their bellies hanging out. She's still an innocent, sweet, good kid, and I feel lucky every day she turned out the way she did.
Never underestimate you parental influence. You're a good guy, Eric. I'm sure you and the missus will show her the right path, and she will turn out just fine.

From the cradle! Toddlers will 'flirt' with men.

No basement? Chain her to the wall!

    jk

Actually you're right. The next 8-20 years will put the Grey in your hair. Be especially watchful if she starts hanging around with older girls. (they all want to be considered older until they hit about 20 and the younger ones (12-16) will do anything to be 'accepted' by the group!)
Whatever happens. Just let her know she's loved!

Our daughter was like rcrxs old lady's: modest; wore long skirts instead of jeans or (heaven forbid) shorts; not interested in boys till she was 16 or so, and even then her interest was tempered with decent restraint. Never actually went through the teenage craziness.

Our son, though--wow! He took her share of wildness and added it to his and then squared the result. He was an erratic and irresponsible teenager, but thank goodness he fell in with some nonconformist friends in high school who all made a pact not to use alcohol or drugs, just to keep from being like other kids.

Both daughter and son turned out fine, Eric. I'm sure you'll have interesting times for the next 8 years, but from what I read in your posts, she'll have good moral and ethical guidance. I predict you'll be proud of the way she turns out.

My dad used to say, "When you have a son, you have one little hooter to worry about. The one between his legs. When you have a daughter, you have to worry about all the little hooters."

    He was right.
