This story is about how ATF set up a storefront to swap guns and drugs for drugs and guns, had their storefront burglarized, then tried to cover up the massive failure to capture anyone of significance, or stop crime in the neighborhood.
Now, they are refusing to pay the landlord for damage to his building.
Just sounds too familiar to me.
Why is this still an agency?

Secondly... The ones they're actually directing their activities towards are law abiding folks....
They are destined to fail...
it will never happen
The ATF is always touting their goal of getting guns off the street, yet they PUT some of their own guns into criminals hands by allowing thieves to make off with 3 of their weapons, one of which was a bonafide machine gun (.223 M-4, a true assault rifle).
They also conducted what amounted to a de facto gun buy back when they bought one of their own guns which had been stolen from them when the M-4 was lost. Now, in this case the term 'buy back' is appropriate. The stolen gun returned was a Sig-Sauer which they bought back for more than the gun cost new. Also,to date no one has been charged in the gun thefts.
One person they charged had the charges dropped because he was in jail on the day the ATF claimed they bought drugs from him. What if he hadn't been in jail? Looks like the phony charges would have stuck. This makes me question the validity of ALL their charges.
I would like to see a movie made on this sting operation; it would be a good comedy.
That is an interesting story. The agents paid such high prices that folks were buying guns at Cabellas and selling them to agents. This is not helping to reduce crime, it is simply wasting our tax dollars.
