Throw a woman to the ground twice, once while handcuffed, for talking on a cell phone while driving. Oh, those darn pesky surveillance cameras.

Well first, I know I don't have the patience to be a cop.

In the news piece the reporter said she stepped out of the car, the attorney said she "was pulled" from the car. I suppose the police will say she came "charging out of the car"?

I've never come out of a car talking to the cops, always sat there while they did their thing. And if they bounced me off the ground once that would be enough.

It could be they over reacted, I didn't see any struggling on the part of the woman. I'll bet though that she wouldn't stop yapping and complained about being stopped at all- a CA driver on her cell who won't shut up would test anyone's patience.

I'd have just tazed her, especially if it was time for lunch. [:o)]

I saw a woman yesterday talking on a cell phone, eating a sandwich and making a left turn all at the same time. I told the wife you had to respect that lady. I don't think I could do that.

Wasn't this proven by your hard braking incident?[:D][:D]

Some will die in hot pursuit

Some will fall in love with life

That is pouring like an avalanche

Fire the officer on probation. As for their actions with a nurse of all people I would not want that news getting around and finding myself as an officer in the local ER. Their reception might be a little cold.

    They should both be fired
and the 22 yr veteran should
    lose his pension.

It's all a conspiracy- it was all computer generated and shown to the public to sway opinion. The backgrounds were provided by the same sound-set that they used for the various trips to the moon[:(]

As Nunn would say, there are two sides to every story. [:D]

If the officer's behavior was as bad as what was reported, all involved should be dealt with seriously.

But, every time there is a report of some misbehavior on the part of a senior officer, someone who doesn't understand how things work will call for the officer to "lose his pension."

Lose pension? Not in this state, not under the TMRS system. Can't be done. It's a property, owned by the individual. If I were to go rogue, and start holding up convenience stores, and if I were to go to prison, I can still draw my retirement. It's mine.

Maybe if the pension is a 100% employer-funded benefit, and there are no laws in place protecting it, an officer might lose it, but I don't know of any place where those factors exist.

I don't know what was said or what moves she made but I did see the high five thing or whatever it was. To me that showed the hand the cops played and loss of pension would be fitting. It's one thing if they felt the need to do it. Another to enjoy it.

    Nunn, you're absolutely right--my bad.
It just makes me so damn ugly when any
official uses his/her position to do intentional
    harm to another.

Funny how the dude said the cops pulled her out when she came out on her own.

Now the first "fall" look like the typical take down for the ladies. Now the second one looked like she panicked and tried to run or tripped.

Who knows what the cop whisperd in her ear to make her panic but I'm sure she'll come up with one.

So, if you misbehave at work, we should be able to take your house, and/or your car, guns, boat, etc. and/or deny you the Social Security benefit you paid for all your life?

If you misbehave enough to get convicted & sent to prison, it is academic. The state will take your pension & everything else as part of the cost to jail you.

For Calif & LAPD it is the same as Nunn described. The ofcrs may loose their jobs or be prosecuted, but their pensions are untouchable.

Loss of job for this sort of behavior is strong punishment as I see it.

Hey if I mis behaved in the way the officer did I'd BE IN JAIL!

OK give the officer the choise jail time or loss of pension. Whatever he will choose fine by me. The punishment should dicourage the crime.

I think there is a relative scale, partly based on how much an Officer costs the jurisdiction in justified lawuits. An Officer who becomes real expensive to keep on the streets, works the supply room.
