What in the world is "Flameless Cremation"? Ad reads "Uses water instead of fire, ashes returned, the green and gentle choice" [?][?][?]

    Read up on alkaline hydrolysis.

It involves lye water and heat.

So they dissolve you in an alkaline solution....sounds just fantastic! How about the Fargo method with a wood chipper? The birds, worms and other critters will clean up the rest. [:p]

The Fargo method with integrated spreader over freshly plowed fields should get Greenie approval

And the benefits??? For starters there's soap as a byproduct. Gold crowns are easy after the body is rendered down. Bones can be dried and pulverized. Of course there's the undertaker. He gets his fee and the world goes on.

For myself I don't care. Dig a hole and throw my remains in. Nature will dispose of and recycle me quite nicely. This deal about embalming and sealed coffins is just creepy. A corpse no matter how well preserved is just that. Besides, I don't like to lay in one position for very long.[;)]

I like the western Indian way.

Elevated platform, sun on my face, and the birds do the work.

Cremate me, and use my ashes to poison the wells of my enemies.

I am an "undertaker". I have had my funeral directors and embalmers licenses for over forty years and this is the first that I have heard of this type of disposition. Then again, I have been inactive and out of the business for a couple of decades. I try to keep up with people and trends in the business but I don't do as well now as I used to.

A little off-thread, but a true story: A local woman disappeared, and detectives believed her husband was involved. He owned a lumber yard, in which there was a large furnace which was used to reduce some kinds of reject lumber pieces to only fine powder, quickly.

A detective called the furnace's manufacturer, which was in Germany, and asked if that particular type of furnace would generate enough heat to reduce a human body to unrecognizeable ash. The representative on the phone said, "Certainly, it has that capability." The detective then asked the representative's name.

And the representative replied, "Eichmann". [:0][:D]
