I am thinking about buying a Marlin 795. I am just wondering if anyone knows how accurate these things are out of box.

I don't know about that model but I can tell you that my model 60 was very accurate out of the box.

I'd look at the Savage offerings with the accutrigger....

I have a Marlin 25N, that I have done extensive work to. It will halve golf tees @ 100 yards, with good ammo.

The Savages, require less work to be accurate.

Russian biathlon rifles are very accurate out the box.

CZ makes some of the best rifles in their price range.

Cooper makes good .22's, if you don't mind supporting Obama, and his ilk.

    Anchultz is arguably the best.

If it has the micro-groove barrel, as some Marlin do...it'll be very
    accurate.

I've never had a Marlin 795, but I've had several and still have a couple Marlins and no complaints with any of them. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever heard much bad about Marlins. Good rifles.

I bought a 795SS a few years ago after first buying my daughter the previous model (exactly the same but different magazine capacity). They're both so accurate they'll probably never have a scope on them. And a big plus is that they're like the old Remington nylon 76-
light as a BB gun. They're so light it's easy to shoot accurately off hand without a rest.

I love my 795. The stock feels a little short for me, but its just as accurate as the ammo you feed thru it. Only problem I ever had was that i had to replace the trigger guard. Mine cracked, probably due to me over tightening the screws, but possibly also to chemical sensitivity.

Its kinda funny, for a .22lr it seems to have just a little bit more kick than m model 60, probably cause its alot lighter weight.

But seriously, you'll love it, don't hesitate.

i have several marlins in 22 lever action and bolt guns. all are very accurate out of the box. seen my brother take a red squirrel out of a tree that was 95 paces away. couldnt believe he hit the dam thing. even got lucky enough to get it in the head
