Allen, I am seeing that I10 is closed at lake Charles, you would want to confirm that before heading to Beaumont.
If the road to Lake Charles is closed, and if Allen is 'On High Ground' he probably needs to stay where he is...unless, the truckers with him at the Flying J Truck Stop (assuming he is still there) know of a better place that is accessible at this time.
Its such a relief to know you made it out of there, thanks for checking in. Cajun Navy just posted an all hands on deck for Port Arthur, its really bad down there. Last night they had to call off volunteer rescues, the currents were so bad they were losing boats and crews.
Well, I got out of Orange about 11 am, got a dispatch to Illinois!
Dispatch was trying to send me back to Beaumont, I told them I wasn't going back there, as there was 1 in 1,000 year flooding going on.
Dispatch isn't necessarily the sharpest knife in the drawer.
I bugged out of Orange yesterday morning, it was raining hard but no flooding.
Yet just 25 miles to the west Beaumont was flooding.
I heard a report on the news tonight, Orange is 3 feet deep in flood water. Of course, Beaumont is a disaster on par with Houston.
Orange is 7 miles from Louisiana. I 10 is now closed at mm 4 in Louisiana.
Thank God I got out of Beaumont early yesterday. Can you imagine, I would be stuck at the big TA truck stop in Beaumont, in 4 feet of water, and no electricity at the truck stop. You would see me on CBS news getting airlifted into a Coast Guard helicopter.
And then, I would get to spend the next 2 weeks at a Red Cross shelter, with a bunch of welfare mommas. Forbid it, Almighty God!
Right now I am at a truck stop in Springfield Illinois. Bright sunshine and a brilliant red sunset.
I started driving through that GD hurricane on Friday and I have had all of that storm that I can stand, including wading through knee deep water yesterday morning in Beaumont.
