I have a stool sample that is more interesting than the price of gold.
    And much better for SHTF.

AU, give me back my watch!!![:D][:D][:D]
Although always described as a cowboy, Roswellnative generally acts as a righter of wrongs or bodyguard of some sort, where he excels thanks to his resourcefulness and incredible gun prowesses.

So, in a few months you'll plunk down your ingot and the guy will say "Not enough." You reply "Hey, this is worth 1200 dollars!" He says "What's a dollar? The going rate these days is now two of those." (or whatever number the merchant you're buying from deems the going rate to be).

THAT's the problem with thinking that you'll be able to use gold as legal tender.

Amazing. Do you have any idea why they are called "precious metals"?

and this in red is just funny.

"THAT's the problem with thinking that you'll be able to use gold as legal tender."
Really? Are you aware that there is a constitutional provision that allows states to accept gold as payment for debts, but it doesn't require them to do so. Absent a law allowing payment in gold, no government or private citizen is required to accept payment in anything other than US dollars.

Now, if you have American Gold Eagles (for instance) you can pay with them, but you'd be crazy to do so since their actual value is approximately 6 times their face value.

BTW, stats show raw gold and silver, long-term, are the only investments you would lose money in over a given 20-year period. You're better off investing in junk bonds (one of the best investments over the long-term).

A person doesn't have to accept cash either, regardless of what it says on the front.

Are you at all concerned about the price of a single action army Colt?

    [?]

Nope, Doc has already got his SAA so we don't have to worry about those prices any more. [:o)]

I would rather have silver, in a S.H.T.F. scenario, if you need to purchase something small, how will you divide an oz of Gold!

If you are planning to use precious metals as barter items you would be better off buying bic lighters and tins of spam. I am assuming you already have ammo which is good to have no matter what is going on in the world.[:)]

The price of gold and silver is being manipulated by world banks and govt's to keep prices low to make it look like a bad investment. When they crash currencies to zero, the only people with gold and silver will not be their slaves. That makes a very few who will be their enemies fit only for FEMA camps.

Guy on the radio says I should buy gold, says it will be up over $2000 a ounce within the year, says silver will be over 50, he's so concerned about my future that he will send me his free report and then out of the goodness of his heart he will sell me some.

    He's quite the guy

I think I met him, too, but I can't remember at which of the dozen or so street corners twit here and the grocery store.
    What's next?

Try standing in front of a judge and selling that you refused cash. You can refuse cash, and the debt will be considered obliterated.

Not sure that would always be true. I remember a story a while back where a guy attempted to pay a city or county bill with change and they refused to accept it because they weren't equipped to deal with the cash. I don't believe his debt was eliminated.
