Kel-Tec at SHOT

This is a short video interview with the guy working the Kel-Tec booth at SHOT. He describes and demonstrates some of the features of the KSG bullpup shotgun and on the RFB tactical rifle. Supposedly, Kel-Tec has expanded its production facility and plans to be able to distribute these products this year. Both look interesting. I wouldn't mind owning either.

I wonder how it would do with clay birds. Would it swing and track naturally. It would be fun to experiment. [:)]
It is a bit odd that they continue to release new products when they don't have the production to meet the demands for current products.

I find that to be a bad trait for a reliable company.
Seems they are trying to drive prices high based on supply and demand.
Not anything I plan on buying, so it matters not to me.
They will never produce enough of them, just like the PMR-30 [xx(]
I've got 2 PMR's now, and any more I buy are for resale to folks that weren't quick enough to get on the list earlier. CDNN shows them in their latest catalog, but they are behind me on the list, too.
Got a problem with GUNS Cap'n? Or just GUNS you can't buy?

I think part of it may be trying to keep supply low so demmand is high, but I also believe they are generally intrested in always trying to make a new and innovative project. They are like Smith & Wesson (great gun smiths but bad self salesmen), but need a Sam Colt (not the greatest smith but could sell gallons of simple syrup to a diabetic).
It will all work itself out eventually I think, its a hard economy for companies that make all their products in the USA, espicially gun manufactures.

If you are referring to Kel-Tec, I have to disagree. They make some pretty good guns. If you are referring to who shot the video, no argument there.

I was referring to the hosting site. Any link from here to there is Bad for my SEO mojo.
Kel-Tec does make some really cool prototypes. Wish they could get their production issues resolved and get those on the market! I heard they had the KSG out at the media day at the range, but I was busy putting the booth up!

Over three years and still a waiting list for dealers to get them? I would say there is a problem. I wanted one when they first came out, even after two years I was still interested, but after three years of never actually seeing one in a gunshop for sale I have lost interest. There is a half dozen shops around me including a Bass Pro and Cabellas and everyone has said they don't know if and when they will get any. Occasionally they get one or two but they are gone quick.

I kinda thought that was what you meant. I agree. [:)] It looks to me like Kel-Tec is under capitalized. They come up with some really interesting prototypes but don't have the needed production capacity. I am wondering if they are trying to use a huge backorder list as "collateral" for an expansion loan or to solicit investors. That's risky if the backorder customers get fed up with waiting and cancel. Or in the mean time, some other manufacturer with slack in their production line puts out a reasonable facsimile. As far as the KSG goes, there actually is a similar gun that has been out for a long time but I haven't seen it in the stores lately either.
The entire facility is a 150'long X 40'wide metal building.[xx(]
Sounds like an investment opportunity. [:)]
Yes, yes it does.
If only we knew someone with significant initial capital and sufficient business fundamentals...
And an established distribution channel for the end product would be a big win!

Nailed the problem!
With their itty-bitty building they have no problem manufacturing their itty-bitty handguns...they just don't have the room to build bigger guns...[^]
