I'm not a fan of print or embroidery on the back of a shirt. Find it to be uncomfortable.

If they have to set up the art, then the set up fee is reasonable.

If you already have the artwork, and are going to a new vendor then no.

Does the vendor have a cnc embroidery machine?

Also there are cnc silk screen machines that may be cheaper.

I would think it's pretty standard. I'm sure it takes a while to get all the artwork into the program the first time. If you were having 50-100 shirts made the set up charge would hardly be noticable!!
I sell fasteners. On low volume orders there has to be a set up charge whether it's built into the piece price or a separate line item. Takes just as long to set up a machine or machines to make 10 screws as it does to make a million screws.[;)]

That looks like a pretty high stitch count embroidery and as has been noted it will hot and scratchy. We had some custom printed shooting jerseys made for about $50 each in relatively low quantity.

It is normal for custom print or embroidered shirt companies to charge $150 for set up fees. You can find a few that doesn't, But with them you are stuck with picking what designs they have on hand most of the time.

Myself, I do not like embroidered shirts and have never once worn the ones that were given to me over the years. Like others have stated.. To uncomfortable.

CNC embroidery machines need programming.... So the setup charge seems genuine to me.

We use this company. Ours are the Full Dye sub option. Since each shirt is printed out and cut you can change the art (or the names on each one) it is a dry fit fabric. Very comfy.

I'm having trouble copying the pictures from our facebook page right n0ow. Will load them up later.

    Shows you say, Woody?
How about a nice shirt with a small embroidered logo(comfortable). And, a nice Turkey hunting vest with a nice big logo that you can wear during the show and maybe raffle it off each show or wear it from show to show......Promotion and brand recognition.
Look the part and sell the product............[;)][;)]

I have several different vests as well with the logo on the back. We did one camo one that turned out really well, they picked a thread color that was very close to the colors in the camo so it looked good and was still camo. My Blaze orange ones the logos are in a tan color that contrasts nicely with the orange.

If you look at the Shooting Industry Masters slide show from last year you can see a wide variety of the styles used in the industry.

(You have to be able to log in to facebook, sorry, not my slide show....)

... I would pay good $ to work a show with ole woodshed. See ... we could get BSR to hire us some lot lizards and then we could dress them up in some leather get ups and the ppl would just line up to buy some calls.

Put my name in the hat!!
