my mom had a Studibaker Lark Wagon. Pop told her once,"if the engine begins to run rough while cruising along, put it in neutral and rev the engine once, then back to Drive.

She tried it,blew the engine so bad,it actually BROKE THE CRANKSHAFT!!!!! lol

    you said :
    dennisnielsen
Comal county ,Texas gave me permission to strip engine parts off submerged cars near the dam at canyon lake below a cliff.
In the late 90's there was still a 57 chevy fish reef down there.
The cylendor head I pulled was worth big buck as reman cores were non scarce.
When you clang tools unserwater fish come from miles to be hand fed
dive masters do this to call fish for students.
I found this out when my head was down wrenching
my wife was sitting in the underwater 57 and had been watching the fish watch.
Just had a feeling I was being watched and looked up to * bass and other game fish about 3-4 'away opening and closing their mouths.
Wished I would have had some cheese whiz "

my father in law discovered what did and didn't work, for small stream trout fishing, by going underwater in the deeper fishing holes with home-made scuba gear, while his nephew fished with various live bait, sizes of line, sinkers, swivels.

when I started dating his daughter (now my wife), he took me fishing. He told me "take that s-t off your line", and refilled my line with a lighter test.

I went from usually catching 1-2 trout, or 3 on my best day, to getting 7 my first time out with the new setup. the daily limit was 8 back then and by my second time out, was able to get 8 trout at will, any day of the season.

even threw 5 back one time, then started keeping them, and still got 8 that day.

now the limit is 5, usually can get that in no time. even on a "bad" day, less than an hour.

anyway, he learned it by watching the fish real time. they react to very SUBTLE changes in line weight, sinkers, swivels- especially in a small stream.

That's wild. A few beers too many, off the bridge, and gone! Lost for decades.

I say booze was involved, those cars were only 12 feet deep. Those cars had manual door locks, and hand cranked windows. Any able bodied person would have escaped from that crash, unless the crash knocked him out.

It must bring some comfort to the relatives for these bodies to have been found.

There must be many other "ghost cars" sitting on the bottoms of rivers and lakes, with skeletons in them across the continent. It is really creepy.

Near what is now the Riverside Casino in Iowa is a small bridge with a small pool of water on each side of Highway 22. A few years back the water level dropped and someone noticed what looked like a car antennae near the surface.
Well, it was, and attached to it was a car that had been missing for 6 or 7 years. Inside was the remains of the driver.
He was a local guy who disappeared on his way home from work late one night. Relatives looked for him and reports came in that he had been seen from Florida to California.
The water was 14 feet deep where the car was found. When you look at the spot you would think the water was maybe 5 or 6 feet deep at the most.

Interesting tidbit. I cross that bridge 6-8 times a year.
