Just passed up a nice little 4 point whitetail this morning as Cumberland County Pa. required three points on a side to be legal.
Can anyone explain why I cannot shoot a 4 point but the entire damn state can legally shoot button bucks?
I do not understand the rational in this thinking. First deer I have seen in 2 years hunting.

If you are going to hunt in PA I suggest you become familiar with PA hunting regulations found here:
http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/pgc/lib/pgc/digestpdfs/2009/2009_hunting_digest1.pdf
Pay particular attention to page 57: Antler restrictions. Most WMUs are 3 on one side, with the exception of 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b & 2d. Depending on whether you hunt northern or soutern Cumberland county, you can take a button buck right now, or may have to wait until Saturday. If you have an Antlerless License for your respective WMU.

Since it is difficult in many cases to distinguish button bucks from does at a distance, they are allowing for the mistake where a hunter thought he was taking a doe, but it was a button buck. The button buck will cost you a buck tag in most cases.
