I got to shoot a Barrett 50 cal bullpup last weekend. All I can say is WOW! I am not a wuss, but that gun weighs 23 pounds, and it was knocking me around. I was impressed at 500 yards and the ease it would pring 3-4 inch groups...with cheap Summit AP ammo.

I was not aware that Barrett made a .50 cal "bullpup". I was aware of their semi-automatic M-82A, and their bolt action, but never saw the "bullpup". A "bullpup" is very short and small...I'm totally confused. Please explain. barrett.com shows no "bullpup".[?]

BTW, the Boys weighs 45 pounds and kicks twice as hard (OK, that's just a guess) as the Barrett with the same ammo. I also think myself to not be a wuss, but it is hard not to flinch with that thing. Luckily, 45 pounds of steel dampens the pre-bang flinch more than it does the recoil.

That is the one...a model 95, and he has a NightForce 5.5-22 on it. I hate to see what it can do with good ammo. The trigger had a little creep in it too.

Barrett ammo at Cabeles is less expensive than Summit AP at Cheaper than Dirt, and is readily available by ordering online. The 80 round case is around $ 4.10 per round for Barrett, and C.T.D. sells the Summit AP for $ 4.90 per round. I would be interested in finding any 'cheap' .50 BMG ammo.

Cool! Although I prefer to run .50 BMGs through Ma Deuce. Last time was 1978 I believe. My Uncle Sugar used to buy all the ammo I wanted to shoot. The hearing damage was substantial, but it was fun.

Me too. We'll be taking ours out to play in a couple weeks.

They've invented these things since '78 that are used to prevent hearing loss. You stick them in your ears. Perhaps you've heard of earplugs?
