I did'nt like the idea at first, but it seems very consistant. Thanks[:)]

Even DoD played with the idea for a bit.

"Cartridge, Caliber 7.62mm, NATO, Duplex, M198 (United States): 7.62x51mm NATO duplex round with two 84-grain (5.4 g) bullets. The developmental designation was T314E3"

My dad aquired a box of them and he use to tell us as kids this is what General Custer used when he went after the indians." What he told us was that the shells had "3 lead balls in 'em. One for the indian, and the other two to take down his horse." sounded good when I was 11

I don't believe the M198 was ever designated as a NATO cartridge even though it was officially adopted by the U.S. It lasted only a very short time. Believe it or not, the reason it was dropped was because the two bullets always hit a short distance apart and it was almost possible to predict where they would hit. Not the random dispersion that was hoped for.

The idea of 2, 3, or more bullets in one cartridge is not new. It's been tried in just about every caliber and case size. Experiments still continue to this day. Here are a couple that were tried in the Cal .30 (30-06) case.

And to think I've been wasting all this time and effort shooting shotguns that hold a lot more than 2 projectiles . . .

Buck and ball was a pretty effective load.
