There is a big storm on the east coast.

Several people are dead.

I'm certain more people will be dead before this whole thing is over.

Their loved ones will miss them.

I give not two farts who they were going to vote for.

If you've never been through a hurricane, it sucks.
There isn't a 'pass' for your ignorance, childishness or foolishness.

You are a certified azzhat if you think its funny to hope that they were going to vote one way or the other.

It isn't funny. Never. Ever.

Sadly, some people underestimate these storms. We saw that with Ike, folks thought they would be safe hanging out on their second floor. They were, until the surge swept the whole damn house away.

Even sadder is the fact folks think a situation such as this makes for an easy joke.

These storms are sort of a no brainer to me. I've ridden out 3-4 hurricanes. When tropical storm Allison came through it almost flooded my house I rented. That was a bad storm due to the rain and pretty much all of Houston was under water for a week. I noticed that where my sister lived there was hardly any flooding. When I quit renting and bought my house guess which area? Yep over by my sister out of flood zone and away from storm surge. I also won't let big trees grow around my house. Trees did a ton of damage to some of my wifes familys houses and cars. I'll stick with shorter fruit trees instead of the huge pines, oaks, and others.

Not fool proof, but it certainly cuts down on a lot of the risk.

Been through a hurricane and a tornado. For my money, a hurricaneis worse. Tornado only lasts for a few minutes at most. A hurricane just keeps on. Prayers for all those on the east coast.

You know a hurricane is coming. Tornados just appear and usually have far greater winds. Yes , I have also been thru both.

than other parts of the country did

    when they needed it

Of course they will. I wanna know just one answer. Who will obummer go after now? Who caused the hurricane?

Not to change the subject, but word around here is gas prices are going up. Would this be related to the storm??

San Antonio is sending power crews for the 3200+ mile round trip to help
I was seeing convoys of power crews headed NE out of Texas on Friday.

Seen a bunch first starting with Hazel.
But never suffered more than a few days without power and some trees to clean up.
It's great to live in those beautiful coastal areas but I never wanted more than a couple weeks there myself.
Still I wish the best for those folks on the coasts and in the cities that have been hit. We are all Americans when these things happen.
I just wish we could all come together and realize the situation our country faces without the right leaders.

Under 20 dead. 2 in a ship that lost propulsion and power.

Gotta wonder how many traffic deaths were averted because most folks stayed at home.

Not beyond reason to think more people may be alive today because of the storm than were killed by it.
Freedom and a submissive populace cannot co-exist.

    It isn't over.

Rats got flooded out of the subways.

    Standing water filled with bacteria.

    Cold weather on the way.

The storm may be over, but the ordeal is just beginning.

Remember the social consequenses of the last blackout?

I wouldn't want to be living that close to so many unhappy people.
