There are now claims that the crew of the cruise ship were instructing passengers in Italian "get in the lifeboats".
But in English they were saying "return to your cabins"
WTH?

Thats gonna leave a mark.....
How did the whole/most of the crew know to do this? Who gave the order?
Heads may roll if this is true, basicly murder.
Got a link or proof?
I saw cellphone photos of the passengers lined up at their muster stations, with crew members holding everyone back. And, I saw interviews with several English-speaking passengers who confirmed what I thought: ship's officers deserted their posts when they realized that they were on their own. And, only ship's officers are trained in how to operate the lifeboats.

Saw it on CNN at about 11:30, then had to go do some shopping. Looked online right after the two attny's were being interviewed.
I'll look in a bit for the link and post it.
Couldn't find the CNN conversation.
But I did find this:
http://newsfeed.time.com/2012/01/20/costa-concordia-crew-downplayed-cruise-disaster-told-passengers-to-return-to-your-cabin/
Its a cruise employee encouraging everyone to return to their cabins. In Italian.
So I could see them reporting that there were people telling people to go back to their rooms in English while there were people telling others to get on the lifeboats in Italian.
I'm certain what they said on CNN. Oh well.
It's safe to say that nobody here was there. None of us have an inkling of what happened except from snatches of incomplete, ill-remembered and even manufactured accounts.
I do not have a link.

I watched a report today claiming that there has been 2 occurrences of FOX news rebroadcasting stories from the Onion news (which is a completely satire comedy news show) as actual news. Since the US has freedom of the press there is no requirement for the news to be truthful, accurate, or anything. If you haven't smelled smelled the pungent odor of BS while watching [enter news program here] then you should have your BS detectors recalibrated.

It reminds me of 9/11. In the second tower, after the jet had crashed into the first tower next door, the word came over the loudspeaker "Return to your offices. No need to evacuate the building. Everything is OK."
The moral: You need to think and act for yourself. The authority figure of the hour may not know what the hell he is talking about.
They certainly were telling passengers to return to their cabins, that went on for 45 minutes.

no kidding. If a plane slams into a building next to mine, I am getting the f outta dodge and asking questions after I have gotten a good handle on what has happened.
