I just bought some Remington Core-Lokt 30-06 two weeks ago from Sportsmans guide at like $15.99/box. Is there a shortage of 30-06 now?

No. It's because it's M2. Lake City, in the clips for Garand rifles. It has been expensive and slightly hard to find for quite awhile. Civilian or sporting 30-06 is still common at the old prices.

Yes, surplus USGI M2 ball supplies dried up about 10 years ago. There are millions of M1 rifles out there, & they have to eat. There aren't that many reloaders, either. The only milsurp ammo available is partially corroded foreign stuff. It won't be long before $2/round for USGI will seem reasonable. Those who stocked up when it sold in the 30-50c range now appear to have made a good investment.

You are aware that this is .50 BMG, not 30-06, right?

Linked .50 is 100rds per can, unlinked it's 150 per can.

M2 is still available for much less than that over at the Civilian Marksmanship Program. Their Greek made Pyrkal (very good quality) M2 ammo is still available at $98.00 + S&H $11.95 per 200 round can. That works out to 55 cents/round. I bought a bunch and it is very clean and accurate. [:)]

Yeah I know, I posted that because the guy was too lazy to count what he was selling for twice the going rate.

I just last week bought a can of Korean surplus for $149.99 + tax for 270 rounds including the ammo can & that's in Kalifornia.
With nothing else to do one night I counted them & found two extra. At $.555/ea plus tax that was a $1.20 freebee.
