any such animal of a M1 carbine stamped Delphi/GM on the barrel?
Comments
I know its the same company for many years then Delphi spun off later on from Gm .
No help on the barrel markings sorry , but I did work at GM and Delphi remodeling the plants in Dayton back in the 1970's when they were still tied together . I have a underwood m1 and love it
built as GI issued.
Delphi, as far as I know was part of GM after 1989.
post some pics, very interesting.....
Dad had a friend passed away and the family contacted him about buying his guns.
trying to find a value on the carbine.
Or, the item in question may really be a windshield wiper motor, not a carbine. It sounds like you are going by someone's verbal description, not a hands-on examination.
We can help you identify the item & the value if you post photos.

Up to a few years ago, you could buy a BRAND new 1966 ford Falcon
from a Mexico car maker that bought out all the old Ford parts and tooling.
Maybe Delpin got all of GM's tooling for the barrels and ran a
short run of them off with the thought of remaking them?
Some parts always seem to get lost from factories. [;)]
Not that this helps but....the old Inland plant in Dayton, Oh was rebranded at some point to Delphi.
Yeap in 1995.
""In 1989, the Inland division was merged with Fisher Guide to form Inland Fisher Guide. That was later grouped with GM's other components divisions to form the Automotive Components Group (ACG).
In 1995, ACG was renamed Delphi Automotive Systems and spun off from GM in 1999.""
In all the times I've driven by there I don't remember it ever saying Inland. At least since the late 80's-early 90's.
I may not have been paying attention either!
barrel could have been changed out
trigger housing name/stamps ,bolt stamps,op rod stamping??????
just a run of the mill m1 carbine. he thinks its worth $1500.
not a chance in hell.
