Garage door update

Lowes came out. Looked at it and said they only work on garage door openers. Said they would have a garage door company contact me. That was 3 days ago. This morning I cleaned out the corner of the garage and looked at the wire that was backlashed on the spool. Unhooked it from the bottom of the garage door and wound it around the spool. Door went up and down manually ok but has less tension on the big spring. Hooked it to the garage door opener and bingo.. works fine.

I must have missed the original post. But, garage doors are tricky ..... and dangerous. Every year a few people are killed by them; adjustments should not be attempted by those who lack training.

I'd stay clear of it until the professionals have a chance to look at it.

You can find lots of good info by computer searching garage door adjustments.

Keep a heads up for safety and don't work on them by yourself.

    good for you .

I have installed a few and replaced some parts ( springs and damaged panels) over the years , never done it before or had any one show me just read the instructions ( for once )
I did have the pucker factor when loading the coil springs on the larger doors first time . but still all my fingers and toes .
