I'd say she was a good student.

I grew up not giving much thought to them (ah youthful ignorance) but they (Gators) are absolutely everywhere, I've never even heard of a lake, pond, creek, etc. that didn't have a gator in it.
She apparently took a class on surviving a 'gator attack. She must have paid attention, as she struck gator on the nose and pried lower jaw down, and escaped with only puncture wounds on knee and calf.

The good students weren't swimming with gators!
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
because after i crapped all over them, they would likely let go willingly {this guy taste like....}[:D]
they have a 2,000 lb bite force. she didn't do anything the gator didn't let happen.
thats what i said in OP, but Mr Perfect is seldom, wait , i mean never wrong......just ask him
although i would enjoy a demo from Mr Perfect with a 8 ft gator showing us how its done
as in the OP also....9 feet

My mistake, I hadn't realized she was still trapped by the gator.[:I]

I doubt seriously if she actually did pry the jaws open, I think that I read that it was eight feet long. I once had a two foot gator clamp down on my left hand and it took two of my friends to open his mouth.
If you had taken the class you would known to punch it in the nose first, then pry open the jaw.
Report I read said the 'gator was 8' 7".

Well, if they had classes back then and I did take the class, I wouldn't have a story to tell now. [:D]

I guess this alligator trainer didn't pay attention in class. Don't click if you are squeamish.

Eyes, nose, or the throat thingie that blocks water is their only vulnerability. Lucky kid!
Local news had her on, she said she ran her finger up it's nostrils, and startled it enough that it turned her loose. Sounds like she just helped it open it's mouth.

If you visit this site very much the flag will never ever be taken down. Do not let it fade, get a spare.
Post up a picture of the GB BS General Discussion flag and I'll do the same.[:D]

There's a reason gators have been around in some form or another for a "zillion" years. (I'm betting HeDog can give us an exact timeframe.) My limited experience is that they're completely unpredictable, dangerous and can be fast as lightning when they want/need to be. You have to respect their cunning, abilities and territory. Seldom are we at the top of the food chain when completely in their environment.
Around 180 million years
Average bite force of an adult is 2980 psi according to studies at Florida State University.
Salt Water Crocodiles have the strongest bite of any living animal at 3700 psi.

Bet that Gator would spit them rednecks out fast! Too much blubber, not enough meat for a gator.
