Finally Cut the Cord

Got the antenna put up today. DISH Network and the rest can go out of business for all I care. Got tired of paying $90/month for a gazillion crappy channels. When the family did watch something in the past year, it was usually on Netflix or Amazon video. I've got my local news with the antenna. Life is good. [:)]

You won't miss the cable at all. [:)][;)]

We love the antenna, Netflix, Amazon Video, Sling TV combo. All that equals about $45/month. We occasionally drop/add them, with the acceptation of Amazon.....Prime Membership.

[^]I for one rarely watch any TV. My information is acquired entirely on line now.
TV including cable and satellite has degenerated into nothing more than the DEMOCRAT party perversion and their handler/sponsor commercials. Only a wee amount of exceptions.

I like many of you grew up with TV when sets first appeared in living rooms in the 50s. There can be absolutely NO comparison between then and now. De-evolution is a more adequate term.

I need to go that route.

(But) Living in the sticks, and mountainous terrain, leave me wondering if I'd get anything at all.

I'd LOVE to tell Dish to stuff it.

One issue I have with Antenna is the digital signal is MUCH weaker then the old signals. Seems at least the Advertisers would push the local channels to boost the signal a little. I have a roof top antenna and even tried amplifiers and still depending on weather have issues.

Internet is rock solid though and I get Netflix, You tube, Hulu, and Amazon fine.

Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

There are apps out there where you plug your location in and it will tell you how many and which channels you will be able to pick up. Also give you the direction of the tower to point your antenna at.

Amazon firestick ($39.99)and the free kodi app.
    Google it.
Watch new movies, old movies, new and old TV shows, sports just about anything you could want and it cost nothing except your internet connection. I have DSL running at less than 4 meg and it works just fine.
I am really close to convincing my wife to cut the cord.

I'm getting real tired of watching best vacuum cleaner and my pillow. Fox news is shot now. Chris Wallace is sounding like a Democrat. I don't know how long I can keep watching Carl Rove and Lindsey Graham and 30 different airheads all saying the same thing over and over. The movie channels only have 5 tapes. Tumbstone is on 3 times a week interspersed with Dancing with wolves. Bring back Ed Sullivan or Jackie Gleason, Somebody help.

    I went with Roku.

Not very user friendly for the new user.
Quite a learning curve trying to keep from subscribing to stuff I don't need or want. (offered free but have to subscribe to get free stuff)
Kinda sounds like Dishnet/Direct TV and politicians promises.
I cut ties with DN quite awhile ago and been running HDTV over the air antenna ge3tting about 30 channels. Live 100 miles from nearest stations so have quite a antenna system for HDTV. Had no channel problems when was using analog tv.

Another Gov't idea to add to their list:
for example, to name a few FEEL FREE TO ADD TO THE LIST

    HDTV
    Transgender bathrooms,
    Health Care,
    SSI,
    Russian Probe,
    USPS,
    Veterans Health Care,
    Nancy Peloshi,
    Chuch Shummer,
    Obummer,

Some of our Gov't leaders with their great ideas are so clumsy they cannot wipe their * without getting some of it on their elbow and they are going to help us peons with their great ideas.[;)]
