Thinking about selling my extra Muzzle loader

I bought my son a Thomson center arms Omega, with the woodland camo thumb hole stock. He shot exactly three shots out of it and it has been in the safe ever since. The retailed for around 500 to 650 new. This one has the original box, paperwork and a Bushnell 3x9 scope on it. I was thinking about 400 to 450 for it. What do you think is a fair price???? I have a friend that is thinking about buying one and I was going to offer it to him. I forget what I paid for this one, But I think it was 475 = 110 for the scope. Ah, 400 sound about right to a friend??? Oakie. By the way, they are discontinued and i see none for sale anywhere to compare it with. I looked all over the web. The regular omega's I see, but not this model, which was more expensive.

It's a lot easier to sell it locally Oakie. Buying a M/L online is kinda like a pig in a poke due to the fact that there is quite a bit of corrosion issues when shooting a bp gun. I'm sure that you took care of it, but convincing someone on the buying end is another story. I bought a used Remington 700 ML here on gb a long time ago. Seller said he cleaned it after every use and that there was no corrosion. Problem was that he didn't realize that you had to take the bolt apart too...Local is sooo much easier, and less stressful. JMTCW....

I agree sell to your friend at what price you feel comfortable , I am positive all of us or at least most have given friends better deals
    just because [^][^]
I know for I have , I am sure many of us have broke even or lost money on some deals selling / giving to friend or family , knowing it was there only chance at getting one . each time has its reasons to help decide the outcome

Thanks guys. I think I will let him have it for 400. That is fair. Gun is basically NIB.. He owns a brewing company, so maybe I can get him the throw in a case of beer for my son[;)] I love mine and will never sell it. Chris will never shoot his again and it is collecting dust. I need the room for another baby anyway[^]

If he owns a brewery you could probably get him to toss in as much as you like. Marginal cost of beer is maybe 30 to 50 cents each depending on what you are making.

A stupid question: aside from being able to hunt in ML season, is there an additional appeal to MLs? Are they accurate? Big hassle? When it comes to rifles I am mostly a lever action guy, so my knowledge of MLs is almost nil.

Another thing is that kind of muzzle loader is not legal in all states for muzzle loading season.

If any of you were to ever give "real" black powder and the traditional guns that shoot it a try......you might contract the bug like I did many years ago.
