Looking to get a dedicated 22 lr upper for an AR I'm assembling for my kid. Found the Chiappa is the least expensive of the options, but was wondering about quality.

I bought one a few months ago - it wouldn't Zero on the sights I used, so got a different set. Still wouldnot zero - (I had adjusted the Tightness/Alignment of the Ribbing on the handguards, centering the ribbing under the sights). So, finally disassembled the unit and found that there was a little slop between the Locating Key on the Barrel and the cut on the Receiver that it mated with. When I reassembled the unit, I Held Strong Pressure to keep the Barrel (and Front Sight) from rotating while tightening the Star Nut. Shoots and Zeros perfectly.

Fit at Pins is Tight! Only the Tiniest of gaps between the Upper and Lower.

Have more than 2000 rounds downrange, with nary a FTF or FTE. Many different Strengths and Weights of Ammo tested.

I think the Forward end of the handguards (Receiving Cup/Locating Washer?) is cheap looking, but that is the Only Complaint I have.

28 round Mags are expensive, but so are the 25 round ones (For another manufacturer) that I adapted by shaving some plastic. All work Fine. Heavy, due to all the plastic. They seem Strong - dropped one on a cement floor, little damage.

[EXTRA SPECIAL EDIT] - CHIAPPA, Are You Listening? - I was Terribly Disappointed to find that the Flash Hider Fake was NOT Threaded in place - I'll bet Chiappa could sell a TON More Units, if the Muzzle was threaded 1/2 X 28 - HINT, HINT!

Oh yeah, I have little/no experience with the other conversions, but The Chiappa makes Interesting "Sproingy" Noises when in use!

Thanks for the info, it seems like a good way to go since I can finish the rifle for another $300 and start her getting used to it - gonna get a different upper once she gets older and makes the transition to big game hunting - I was thinking 300 Blackout, and if she doesn't like it, she gets my Colt in 5.56 and I get the Blackout [:D]

EGGZAKLY The path I am Following! Bought the Chiappa, and put it on the Wife's Lower, for Practice, and Yard Patrol duties.

Won a 300 BLK upper here on GB from "Northern Rifleman", for $519, all shipping and Fees INCLUDED. Magpul Forearm. BCG and Actuating handle also Included. Should arrive this Week, maybe by Thursday or Friday.

Hoping to add a Nice Can a little later!

Sounds like a great deal, wish I lived in a state where I could get a can - effing NY is one of only 10 states that refuse to let us own them [:(!]

I already have the lower, it's just the upper I'd have to share as I only have one in 5.56 right now and I really want to get my kid familiar with it but she's going to start small and work her way up - she won't be deer hunting for 3 years so i got time....
