I could say bad but I won't. Stage 4 Cancer, kidneys knocked out, bladder blocked by a tumor, chemo, pain, agony, etc. I could go on. All bad.

But there's been good. My friends here and elsewhere. My family. My doctors. Kidneys and bladder have come back on line. I survived chemo and somehow prospered even while being poisoned. My strength is back and I'm on no drugs or painkillers.

I saw Christmas and 2017 and celebrated next to my love of forty seven years. Eight months ago it was wristband after wristband with a nice little DNR button attached. An emergency blood order at every chemo even when there began to be a chance I'd see another day. Now nothing and they don't even bother to listen to my lungs where they were sure the cancer would invade. So lots of bad but overshadowed by the good!

I have no wish to offend those who don't have faith in a greater power but I need to share... During the darkest days when there was so little hope I asked a simple prayer. "What should I do?" The answer was immediate and profound... "LIVE!" Might I respectfully advise everyone here to follow that command?

    LIVE!

If reading this doesn't give you a chill in the spine or goosebumps, you aren't human.

Great words of wisdom. No matter how many times they are said, they are words you will never hear often enough.

Lost my Mother in late October. Business took a down turn last spring. Looking for my daughter and granddaughters to get on their feet soon. Hoping that things will turn around this year.

My mind seems to still work.
Most of my body still works at a reduced level.
I didn't go to any family funerals because there weren't any.
    I'm still alive. . .

I guess it was an alright year.

PS: AND the elections are over!

    You nailed it, bpost.

I assume your post was not auto-censored.

2016 was a good year for me. I got a pay raise at the beginning of 2016 but also a much larger work load and longer hours. But weekends off and all holidays off is good for me.

Holidays really add up !!! Official Days off include.
    Saturday and Sundays
    U.S. Holidays
    Colombian Holidays
    Saturdays and Sundays
    Religious Holidays
    Two weeks during Fair Week
Two weeks vacation (2 more years and it'll be Three weeks).

Unfortunately I've had to work Holidays but when that happens I get 2-1/2 more days off for every Holiday day worked.

Add in 5 sick working days off and days off are interfering with my other activities. Need to give back over 30 days off each year. Oh, well.

Other than that, 2016 was a pretty good year.

It was a pretty average year.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain
