My father died. Seems that time has stood still in that moment, and his memory is as fresh in my mind as it was a quarter century ago!
He remembered the first world war, had to leave home and find work during the Great Depression, was a WWII Navy sailor who fought in the Pacific theater, started the family business, and raised a dozen kids.
He would always say that he was just an average American.
I could never come close to filling such shoes. I miss you dad.[V]

The US Marshall's were conducting a recon and got blown. They got busted by a dog and they killed the dog, then the balloon went up.
They had no plan for getting busted on the recon.

They came for Randy Weaver, and I did nothing.
Yep, same here.
and the charge against horiuchi was moved to a federal venue and dismissed....later the "hero" H was given an AWARD for his meritorious service ...always disappointed me that he retired and "lived safely" in comfort...
Lon went on to do dirty deeds down in Waco too. What a pile of human debris.[xx(]

Oh, no. I sent a real letter to the RNC and my state Republican office. Type written, in an envelope with a stamp, and signed by me and my wife. And...oh yeah...the letter contains a curse word too!
That will get their attention. Expect big changes by the Republicans in the coming days!

Turns out Randy Weaver specifically chose North Idaho because of all of the racists that lived there at the time.
Apparently it had nothing to do with the widely reported facts of the time.
It is so easy after 25 years to re-write history in an effort to excuse the actions of Government at the time.
Not to make too big of a deal out of it, but it is the same thing that is going on regarding statues and monuments.

Local radio news yesterday did a 2 minute report on the siege and the Weavers.

I'm sure Randy was surprised to learn of it. Who knew?!
