Making me drool again, but I find great comfort in knowing that I have lots of good company! [:D]

You are probably correct in that it's going to be 20 to 30k.

A complete beauty to say the least. I learned something too, I did not realize that the 1876 was strong enough to handle a round like that.

Looks like Lucky Duck is interested! Just shy of 20 grand!!
Of course, if he really wants it you'd think he'd bid at least 20K to see if he breaks the reserve. I mean, if I was going to spend 19,600 another 400 for that would not be a deal breaker..........
    This is a great rifle!

That round was designed FOR and around the 1876. Later it was also chambered in a few Winchester Single Shots.

I was gonna bid on that but due to lack of quality photos I really couldn't tell what I was looking at.

(I couldn't figure out the green font so use your imagination)

Well it stalled just shy of 20 grand. Apparently Lucky duck got cold feet or something.
I can't wait to see what else that seller rolls out to tempt us with!!

That gun was not for sale. They were simply fishing to see where it priced at. See this alot on the machine guns. Esp H&K guns. Have reserves out of this world. You see them bid up 20-30% over value and still not make reserve. Then you never see the gun listed again.

Actually, this guy has sold a lot of beautiful Winchesters over the past few years. All but this one were penny auctions and no reserve. He did run this auction twice that I know of.

This one looks like a good candidate for a no reserve with a starting price the seller is comfortable with.

Who knows if it would have sold with a $ 21,000.00 start and no reserve?

Unless, of course, it is as JnRockwall states.

    That's my thought too, Don.
It might take a couple weeks, but that gun could easily bring $25,000 or better. It would be pretty difficult to find a '76 in that condition with a scope like that in an express caliber!!

Seriously. A factory engraved and scoped Winchester Model 1890 sold for $37,000.00 many years ago through a big auction house. Then, I saw a beautiful collection display of the same kind of .22's at the Puyallup, Washington gun show a half a dozen years back. The owner had paid well over $200,000.00 for it years earlier. One of the 1890's he had was a plain, factory scoped rifle, and I believe it had a tag of over $22,000.00 on it. So, GHD's idea that this 1876 might bring 30k is not far fetched. What the seller needs is exposure, and he's getting it here on GB.

Fishing for a price as JnRockwall has mentioned, very possibly so, but then again the seller might have a established a set price based on his experience, instead of an overly optimistic one, that he will stick close to when all is said and done. This combo is almost 130 years old, highly desirable, and very rare even though it's not factory done.

Well, there is probably only ONE of these out there.... much less for sale.

    It's high condition.

There are wealthy people that will pay whatever it takes.

He will get what he wants if he is patient.

Doesn't appear to come with the original box.[V]
