I'm not quite sure what's wrong with me, but this is now in my driveway! No more worrying about driving in the winter!

Does anyone have one, or has anyone driven one? We are looking into renting one for our trip this summer.

To be honest, I found one I would consider buying, as they appear to be a really nice size for a husband, wife, and 2 dogs. Plus I like that they are small, yet spacious for cargo and AWD with the option to throw it in true 4WD.

While I am not sure about the specific model, I know a guy that rented a new Jeep from one of the major rental agencies recently.

He hated it because of the feature it has that shuts off the engine when the vehicle stops. He said it annoyed the piss out of him.

I would think the owner would be able to shut that particular function off.

Other than that, it worked perfectly for him.

My brother's Chevy Malibu has that same feature. He hates it as well. I don't blame them, as it would drive me nuts stressing over weather it will turn back on in the middle of traffic. I'm sure at some point it won't. [:0]

Remember, the Jeep Renegade is merely a rebadged Fiat.
As bad as previous Jeep products are that were made by Chrylser, do you really want one made by Fiat?

The start stop feature is great in heavy traffic it increases gas mileage. Otherwise is annoying.

The wife replaced her 13-year old Jeep Liberty with a Renegade. She loves it. It mainly just gets used around town. She likes that it is small and she can park it anywhere. It also has enough room for my 6'2" frame. Only thing I don't like is that it is front wheel drive.

If I remember correctly the Jeep Renegade either does not have a spare tire or the spare tire isn't very good.

My F150 has "auto stop"...fortunately there is a button on the dash to shut it off. But you have to do it every time you drive the truck. I forget about it until I get to the first stop sign then i shut it off because it is truly annoying. It seems like a feature to create extra wear and tear on your vehicle.

    RENT one.
That is better than taking the plunge and buying.

I've owned and worked on the older models and I could not ever buy anything with the Jeep name attached. (as a every day driver)

I test drove a Renegade Latitude model today. It had the 2.4L 4 cylinder, 4WD, tow package (only rated for 2,000 lbs), and 9 speed auto transmission. It handled nicely and was actually quite peppy.

Yes a 76 and 79. CJ-5 Renagade. If you go with the new one as a rental. ask them what drive train options it has. My Rubicon has Front/Rear/Independent axle locks 6 speed manual Trans. Put it in 4low lock front and rear axles it will crawl at 2mph at idle with little to no gas or bogging.

At least you won't have to tie a flower to the antenna so you can find your car in the parking lot!

I have not found a way on the Mercedes to shut that crap off. Thankfully they only put it on the gas engines and I only buy Diesel units. I hands down refuse to purchase Ethanol as a fuel for my vehicles.

    Congrats on the new vehicle.

    You're going to need better tires for the winter though. #128521;

Yeah, I'm definitely going with something more aggressive in the future. I'm hoping Cooper makes the AT3 in a size that fits this. We have had good experiences with them on 2 vehicles, including my wife's currently vehicle. They are reasonbly priced too.
