i think you're right about the guns. i would hate to think my NIB collectibles would be mishandled, or shot.
but, honestly, it's the only collateral i have.
i make a good salary, but my credit is crap. i put everything in real-estate 8 yrs ago and ended up with multiple non payers on my own $$ mortgages when the economy tanked.
my own flat, i gave mortgages with the same criteria as the major banks, ie, if you're alive, you can buy a house.

just wait, another deal will come along when you'll have all the cash you need.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche

It's easier to ask forgiveness, than permission. My head still hurts a little from my last two purchases, but the doc says the swelling should go down soon. [:D]

That is a tough decision, if it's something you really want and can swing it then batter up. I went through a similar scenario when i found my 58 Harley, somehow I managed to pull it off without pissing the wife off to much.

I agree. There are a lot of hot vipers out there and you will have the cash later too. If you are 100% sure he's trust worthy, I would tell the guy you'll give him the cash and finance 4 grand with no collateral that way and see what he says. Or get a car loan from the bank. If not I would feel 1000% fine walking away. There are other beautiful vipers out there for the taking today and they will be there later too if you have to save a little bit.

I agree with the majority of comments above. The only thing I would suggest is, if you are considering a secured loan with solid collateral like guns, running through the list of friends you have and maybe give them a shot to make 8% on their money. Odds are that it would probably be one of the better percentage returns available to them. Unless, that is, you feel the need to give the easy money to some wealthy bankers instead of people you like.[:)]

always remember, guns will get you through times with no money better than money will get you through times with no guns.

Then something else will come along that you want more...

If the car is that important to you, sell the guns and buy the car...but something tells me that it's not that important.?.?

I would find a third party to hold on to the key to the bank security box where you will place the guns as collateral. I'll be damned if the "trustworthy" guy snaps and busts many caps with your guns.

A car loan or a gun loan, what's the difference?

Point is you may as well borrow against the car on the same terms if you are willing to accept them. If you wouldn't borrow money on the car do not borrow money on the guns. If you would then do and leave the guns out of it.

Run like hell, guns good, cars..... cars, not so much.

For toy cars cash is king.

If he really wants to sell it have him drop the price 8 grand or walk.

He HAS to sell it, You don't NEED to buy it.

They did make more than one of them you know.

Do you really need it right now. I dont know your finacial situation but if you have to sell 8000 worth of guns, Its not worth it. You will find another car in the future when you can afford it. We all want something we just cant afford and that is why we have a level headed person living with us to guide us in the right direction. I had to wait 16 years until I could finnally afford the motorcycle I wanted. It will come to you, just be patient.

You can get a car loan for a hell of lot less than 10%

I just got the wife a 2008 ford and financed the balance
    after down at 3.74%

Oh the decisions we have to make...I love my guns and shooting gives me a real rush, but I've had sports cars that put a grin a mile wide on me. Viper? yep got to sit in one and fire it up, I think I had an orgasm, the feeling was incredible. Don't know what to tell ya but if you don't buy it while you have the chance, you may forever be kicking yourself in the *ss.
