I've cruised on Carnival and it didn't even sink.
Still would not buy it, it could be a long ride back up.

Seems like Italian skippers of cruise ships don't have a good track record. I am pretty sure it was an Italian skipper that bailed out early on the cruise ship that sank off the coast of Africa a few years ago. His excuse was, "Abandon Ship" applies to everyone and he was under no legal obligation to stay to the end. It was left to some of the cruise entertainment staff to supervise the helicopter extraction of the passengers.
I guess a sample size of TWO isn't really statistically valid, but it sure reflects poorly on them.

The stock may stay down for a while until the inevitable lawsuits are settled and damages can be calculated. They also have to get some estimates on what to do with the wreck. It was a pretty new ship and MAY be worth salvaging. $$$$$ issues are going to keep the Board of Directors very busy for the foreseeable future.

last carnival cruise I was on, the captain was forced off the boat, his picture stripped off the wall and some replacement picked up the tour after our first stop.

We skidded into port 2 hours late, no big deal to me, but for those tour operators I bet it was expensive mistake.

The cost of this accident is almost impossible to quantify at this point.
Heard some "loss of use" figures this morning. But that doesn't take into account lawsuits and people who decide to skip their cruise this year.

Even before this accident, the cruise industry was hurting. You can't give away a cruise to Greece or Turkey due to the poor economy & civil unrest. Italy's economy is shaky, too.

I think at least 1 large cruise line will fold, & that will be Carnival. A couple of the others may merge. It will take several years to recover.

This guy seems like he fled before the boat even started listing. They were what, 90 feet from the shore? Pathetic.

i never had any major problems with carnivals prices, granted texans are charged double the same cruise out of florida runs. The one thing that does bother me a little, is almost every cruise goes to cozumel. really, how many times do people really want to go there? Its lame the first time.

it's only down around 3 bucks now.
the total cost of the accident keeps going up.
most analysts are recommending hold or sell.
if it hits $20, buy as much as you can afford.
will be at $40 in 18 months.
