I am quite familiar with it.

I sleep most times with a pillow between my knees if on your side, or under the knees if on your back. Don't sleep on your stomach.

Gravity guidance systems,.....where you hang upside down for brief periods seem to help also.

There is no "cure" per se.

Actually was wondering why mine is acting up. I'm good at sitting. but standing up doing anything hurts. I get 15-20 minutes of work and need to sit down.

Actually good I was laid off.

Believe it or not its the same for me. Have a hard getting on the road but once moving my back is fine. Thought I was the weird one riding a motorcycle with back pain. Tried telling that to the doctors and they think I'm nuts.

Mines a Heritage Classic I've added a back rest I found on e-bay. Bolts straight onto a stock seat. I was ready to pay big bucks for a new seat with a backrest when I found this. Now the stock seet works just fine. The back rest works great on the lowerback just where I need it.

well, first of all, carry your wallet on the other side when it flairs up (assuming its currently on the wallet side)
sciatica is inflamation of the sciatic nerve. in an adult male the nerve is about the diameter of your pinky finger. thats BIG as far as nerves go!
so, stop the irritation, then address the infalamation.
Motrin (ibuprofen) is a good anti-inflammatory but you need higher doses than whats stated on the label. 800mg every 6-8hrs is the current recommendation.
prescription treatments are prednisone (or Medrol) in a tapering dose.
some providers add a muscle relaxant like Flexeril 10mg three times a day (short term).
alternatives include injecting a steroid like Kenalog or depo medrol into the area (your butt).
these statements are in answer to your question and are given for educational purposes only. I am NOT recommending any specific treatment(s). you should see your doctor for diagnosis and treatment. (sorry, gotta say that after some yahoo tried to sue me for recommending medical treatment online, FOR FREE!!)
